There are those that dream of success and the wealth it brings but I am far wealthier than they will ever be… 🙂

I’m far richer than the rich
Wealthier than the wealthy by far,
I have gold in the sun
I have silver in the star.

I have dreams that I follow
That are more precious than gold,
As I venture through life
Eagerly watching, the dreams unfold.

I have diamonds, too many to count
With each new fallen snow,
As I see each one sparkle
While basking in the suns glow.

The mornings bring nature’s painting
Priceless, a portrait of the sky,
Impossible to duplicate
Even though many did try.

Each bloom of the red rose
A ruby, one of a kind,
With the bloom of the white rose
A pearl comes to mind.

Money have I little
But wealth I have got,
And I don’t fit in with
The wealthy and rich lot.

But I’m not going to change
A wealthy dreamer I’ll stay,
Until the rivers, they all run dry
Until the four winds, they all blow away.

Hello Diary,

It is a quiet, cool Sunday morning after three to four days of rain… so far the creatures have not lined up in the street two by two but do have some water in the fields… 🙂

Sunday morning 1

Setting here with a spot of tea while watching the sun rise and memories of friends of the past came to mind… friends I met in cyberspace since 1999… we would share a great deal over time about our worlds and the world in general… we never met or heard each others voices… one very good friend were June Clark… our paths crossed in 2005, she lived in Skendleby, England… she were a distant cousin to Elizabeth Barrett Browning and in years past June would write poems and articles under the name Chris Clark….

june 2

I penned some thoughts at her passing (that could apply to anyone I suppose)…

June
A friend and I parted today
June was her precious name,
Our eyes never met, voice never heard
But a dear friend just the same.

There is sorrow as I write this
A sadness in this heart of mine,
But knowing she’s free, suffer will she no more
All sorrow and sadness will heal… over time.

There will be happiness and joy
For dear June, this I know,
As she at last joins her loved ones
And to a place of peace and love they will go.

And knowing this I will be happy
Precious memories, to come back whenever,
For like love, memories are everlasting
From now…….. to the 12th of Never.
(penned by Larry Woller 2014)

The one topic of conversation June and I shared and had in common were war and conflict… she, of course, dealt with WWI and WWII… I dealt with Vietnam (that is me sitting on the ground 12th Marine Regiment Vietnam 1965-1966)..

dutch

We both (and everyone else) agreed that all war and conflict brought about were death, suffering, hate and anger, never solved anything… there are elements of world’s society that have not evolved a great deal since homo sapiens discovered the “club”… 🙂 “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom”. Isaac Asimov

But June and I, along with a fellow by the name of Martin Luther King, Jr. have hope and a dream… that one day the young people of this world will use the technology to learn and understand and grow to accept one another using the power of love and there will truly be “peace on earth and good will towards men”…. 🙂

I peer out my window
At a world..cold and bleak,
A world of conflict, anger and hate
Mortals are suffering as I speak.

But we have a dream
Martin, June and I,
That one day there will be peace
No more mortals will die.

And there is hope
Of a world filled with love one day,
A wish that could come true
For hope is the last to die…they say.

Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice… you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.

So I peer out the window
Not with sadness, fear or sorrows
But a heart filled with a dream
Of all the peace and love filled tomorrows.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Well, I had better close… venture on down the path, eagerly awaiting what tomorrows adventures may bring… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly.” Langston Hughes

“I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Keep a dream in your pocket and a song in your heart;
Keep the lamp of your learnin’ burnin’ bright.
Keep your eye on your horizon and a smile on your face
As you travel down the highway of your life.

Don’t listen to those voices that say it can’t be done;
They build walls where there was never one before.
No, there’s nothing that can stop you, nothing that can drag you down,
If you keep lookin’ for that ever-open door.

[Chorus:]
So if you follow your dream to the end of the road,
Taking care not to let it fade away (not fade away),
If you follow your dream and you follow it well,
It will lead you to the promise of a bright, shiny day.

Well, imagine if Columbus had not dreamt the world was round,
And Armstrong had not walked upon the moon,
If John and Paul never wrote a song for “Yesterday,”
If all of them had given up too soon.

Yes, they were always taking chances, looking for the answers
That took the whole world to higher ground.

[Chorus]

Keep a dream in your pocket,
Keep a dream in your heart.
Keep your dream forever;
Don’t let it fade away.

Keep a dream in your pocket,
Keep a dream in your heart.
Keep your dream forever;
Don’t let it fade away.

Starting to warm up outdoors as Ole Man Winter is starting to move on… thinking about gardens and bouquets for my friends…. 🙂

A bouquet of flowers from my garden,
Their beauty need not be told,
Their fragrance is soothing and lovely
A pleasant scent for one to behold.

They remind me of you, my dear friend
Whose beauty from within you do share,
Sharing sunshine, understanding and laughter
Sowing the seeds of love and happiness in the air.

This bouquet was picked for you
For coming into my world, my dear friend,
For giving sunshine, laughter, love and happiness
For which I know will never end.

Hello Diary,

Well, it is a Wednesday, a somewhat pleasant day with the hint of spring in the air… it were a lovely day yesterday and went for a drive, observing the prairies before planting…one can see the Contrails of man’s flying machines in search of their destinies on the horizon… 🙂

tues morning 26 001

Taken a break in the activities before ending the day to share a few thoughts… while the past few days were somewhat pleasant, rain is in the forecast for the foreseeable future…. but as the saying goes “April showers bring May flowers” and while it is early yet, one is starting to think garden…(photo taken last year)…

water garden

A garden is like worlds society, there are many differences, each has its own place, is beautiful in its own right…

In the corner of his garden, there’s a patch he used to keep
All to himself, to allow nature to creep
There are no trimmed edges
or prim, proper hedges
He left his earth still and alone
Allowed the forces of nature to roam
He said that you don’t always have to be tidy and neat
Just watch the beauty of opportunity grow at your feet
He said just watch the earth produce its own glory
And I watched…and held on to his story
My grandad was right
Add water and light
Behold the sight
There are poppies and flowering weeds
Buttercups and oat coloured reeds
Daisies gingerly lift their heads
Dandelions roar from muddy beds
Purple thistles and strange grasses
Colours that alight and ignite masses
Dark ferns and heathers
Dandelion clock feathers
Birds foot trefoil, a four leafed clover
My grandad’s story is not over
He may have gone, I may have cried
But the beauty he predicted never died
(Author Unknown)

And, of course, what makes the world go round, what makes the garden grow is love… 🙂

love

And that love must have understanding, compassion, patience, perhaps a bit of diplomacy and no lies or falsehoods…

A Kipling I know I’m not
I know that from the start,
No eloquent words here
Just words of love, from the heart.

Nothing cute or fancy…
No false charmers words here,
But words of undying love for you
From my heart, my very spirit…. my dear.

Couldn’t find the words for some time
Searched every book and song,
Until that wonderful precious day
That you… came along.

Now that I have the words
What’s this ole country boy to do,
How will these arthritic hands
Say those precious words to you.

It will have to be done right, you know
And I know I will find a way,
To say how much I Love You more
With every heartbeat, each and every day.

There will be no falsehoods or lies for you, dear one
No meaningless empty words, cute or clever,
For I would rather you love me for just one day
Than to hate this ole country boy forever.
( Larry “Dutch” Woller, )

And, with love in the air, even Attilia has a boyfriend… 🙂

Attilia and friend

Well, I had better close, have rambled on enough… mosey on down the path, perhaps encounter an adventure or two and more memories to be found… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

While I am not into religion, I will have to agree with Ray Stevens that whether plant or creature, everything thing is beautiful….

Jesus loves the little children,
All the little children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
They are precious in his sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

Everything is beautiful in it’s own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter’s day.
And everybody’s beautiful in their own way.
Under God’s heaven, the world’s gonna find the way.

There is none so blind as he who will not see.
We must not close our minds; we must let our thoughts be free.
For every hour that passes by, we know the world gets a little bit older.
It’s time to realize that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

And everything is beautiful in it’s own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter’s day.
Oh, sing it children!
Everybody’s beautiful in their own way.
Under God’s heaven, the world’s gonna find the way.

We shouldn’t care about the length of his hair, or the color of his skin.
Don’t worry about what shows from without, but the love that lives within.
And we’re gonna get it all together now; everything gonna work out fine.
Just take a little time to look on the good side my friend,
And straighten it out in your mind.

And everything is beautiful in it’s own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter’s day.
Ah, sing it children!
Everybody’s beautiful in their own way,
Under God’s heaven the world’s gonna find a way.
One more time!
Everything is beautiful in it’s own way.
Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter’s day…

A Quiet Sunday Morning…

A quiet Sunday morning to wake up to
Sitting, gazing out, with a spot of tea,
Contemplating today and my tomorrows
Wondering, what will the future be.

A quiet Sunday morning, life is calling
Beckoning on the path, its mysteries many unfold,
Each to explore and treasure
One day to become a memory to behold.

A quiet Sunday morning, birds chirping
Another day to learn and explore about me.
It is my life.. only I can live it
So will do it my way.. don’t you see.

A quiet Sunday morning, of me being different
Reminding me of words from a song,
Where do I fit in, one would ask
One wonders, where do I belong.

A quiet Sunday morning, here on the path
At the end… on the horizon… lies my rainbow,
It is there my answers lie… the truth is known
Until then, only Fate and destiny will know.

Yes, a quiet Sunday morning, spirit, body and mind at the ready
To seek that rainbow… perhaps around the next bend,
Once found, I’ll have my answers, destiny known
And that will be the beginning, not the end.

Hello Diary,

It is a Sunday, cloudy and rain with possible thunderstorms later today… a few early risers going about their day before the weather moves in…:)

early risers sunday

Having a leisurely day doing a few chores and planning for the tomorrows.. thought I would take a break in the morning and share a few thoughts… mentioned the other day the Coopers hawk, well later in the week saw a Red Tail hawk..

hawk 1

The backyard residents were in the brush pile and the red tail hawk didn’t have any better luck getting anyone to come out and play than the Coopers hawk.. don’t you just hate it when that happens… 🙂 well, when the days seem dark, the future looks uncertain, there is always hope!… 🙂

HOPE IS

Hope is a feather floating in a bright blue sky
Hope is that sparkle that shines in your eyes.
Hope is a butterfly fluttering on the wind
Hope is good times spent with family and friends.

Hope is a newborn baby’s cry
Hope is a Mother’s lullaby.
Hope is the rainbow after a rain
Hope is the harvest of golden grain.

Hope is the light that keeps darkness at bay
Hope is the breeze on a hot summer day.
Hope is ever present and free of cost
Hope is the last thing ever lost.

Hope is staying positive when the going gets tough
Hope is seeking help when you feel you’ve had enough.
Hope is recovery from simmering sorrow
Hope is believing in a brighter tomorrow.
(Linda Hotger)

And sometimes one has to take the path least traveled.. “The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no man has ever been before.” (Francis Phillip Wernig)

So it is down the path I (and possibly the hawks) do venture… 🙂

I awoke one morning, alone, in history’s past..
Left with a heart full of memories, a decision to make,
Confronted with two paths to my destiny..
Heart and mind to decide which one to take.

Take the one most traveled, the logical safe choice…
The one chosen by the multitudes..the human race,
Like sheep, following a path determined by another…
No self identity, all bearing the same face.

A path whose direction is chosen by a few
The rest to follow, ever so blind,
Their destiny not chosen by their own hand
Their fate determined, by a closed mind.

The other path less traveled, mysterious and unknown
Where one can be different, like me I confess,
Without fear of ridicule, bigotry  and hate
A path filled with love… and happiness.

A path where one can follow ones dreams
An open mind to see what others do not,
To live a life guided by one’s heart
While the other path one cannot.

Decision made, with eyes on the horizon
It’s down the path least traveled I do venture,
Excitement fills the air, a smile on the face
Looking forward to a great adventure.

My fate will be unknown, what lies ahead unsure
I do not know…. what my destiny will be,
But one thing will be certain, written in stone
I shall venture down that path …..being “ME“.
          (penned by Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Well, I had better close, maybe batten down the hatches a bit, venture down the path to look for that ole rainbow and maybe “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” (Maya Angelou) while getting ready for the next adventure… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

For “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” -Maria Robinson .. but only if you want to… 🙂

When there’s a shadow, you follow the sun.
When there is love, then you look for the one.
And for the promises, there is the sky.
And for the heavens are those who can fly.

If you really want to, you can hear me say
Only if you want to will you a way.
If you really want to you can seize the day.
Only if you want to will you fly away.

When there’s a journey, you follow a star.
When there’s an ocean, you sail from afar.
And for the broken heart, there is the sky.
And for tomorrow are those who can fly.

Ah! Je voudrai voler comme un oiseau d’aile
Ah! Je voudrai voler comme un oiseau d’aile,
d’aile…

If you really want to you can seize the day.
Only if you want to will you fly away.

lovebirds

Hello Diary,

It is a Thursday nearing the end of the week… taking a break from the daily activities to share a few thoughts… a rather dreary morning to start the day…

thurs....morn

But the birds are singing, backyard residents starting the day and while there is still a touch of winter, there is a taste of spring in the air…

I’m waiting for the sun to come up
With a spot of tea in my hand,
Thoughts passing like a gentle breeze
As I gaze upon the land.

Thinking about my garden
As I watch the squirrels at play,
Will this be a good year?
With nature being kind…day by day.?

Or will it be like last year
A struggle both day and night,
Hoping for a better day
With every morning’s light.

Love is in the air
Carried by a gentle breeze,
In the notes of a birds song
As the melody,..gently,.. drifts through the trees.

The time has come to make ready
To plan and to prepare,
Even though it’s cool outside
A taste of spring, and love, is in the air!

Or is it just me………….. 🙂
(Larry “Dutch” Woller, )

And speaking of love, a Coopers hawk stopped in the neighborhood to visit…

coopernhawk

Unfortunately he couldn’t get anyone to play with him… 🙂 I expect, like me, he is a creature only a mother could love… “ The love a mother has for her children is legendary, it is said a child is the mother’s heart outside her body.” … 🙂

But maybe, just maybe, we’re not so different… “Maybe I’m not so different from everyone else after all. It’s like somebody gave me a puzzle, but I don’t have the box with the picture on it. So I don’t know what the final thing is supposed to look like. I’m not even sure if I have all the pieces.” Sharon M. Draper … so I am sure that here on the path there is even love for the hawk … 🙂

As there is love for everyone, no matter how different one may seem to be, for the path is..

“Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice… you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be. “
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)

And, of course, when dealing with love, be it friendship, relationship or whatever, the key is being truthful and forthcoming, the words coming from the heart…

A Kipling I know I’m not
I know that from the start,
No eloquent words here
Just words of love, from the heart.

Nothing cute or fancy…
No false charmers words here,
But words of undying love for you
From my heart, my very spirit…. my dear.

Couldn’t find the words for some time
Searched every book and song,
Until that wonderful precious day
That YOU came along.

Now that I have the words

No meaningless empty words, cute or clever,
For I would rather you love me for just one day
Than to hate this ole country boy forever.
( Larry “Dutch” Woller, )

Well, I have rambled on enough and I had better close for now..you see, Diary, the sweeper is sitting in the room alone and forlorn and looking for some attention… 🙂

And as I gaze about the path least traveled, it seems there is only me… sighhhhhh .. but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise….

“Love knows no bounds or time, love is the spirit of the heart, love is the life support of hope, love is the force behind compassion, love is the foundation for true friendships, relationships….without love life has no meaning”…. (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

You can hear them singing on the street
You’ve gotta love someone
If you want to dance with happy feet
You’ve gotta love someone

Don’t need anyone to tell you how
There never was a better time than now
Cause we all know what makes the world go round
You’ve gotta love someone

I am in heaven
All of the seven
Days of the week
With you having fun
My heart’s on fire
I am inspired
Love takes you higher
When you truly love someone

If you want to steal his heart away
You’ve gotta love someone
If you can t live without her one more day
You know you love someone

I’ve got a secret to reveal
It s got me spinning like a spinning wheel
So if you want to know just how it feels
You’ve gotta love someone

Hello Diary,

It is a Saturday, a somewhat cool but quiet start to the weekend (at this time snow is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow… 🙂 ) after a wild three days… Wednesday had thunderstorms and heavy rain, Thursday had gale winds (gusts to 50-60 mph), high wind warnings, tornado watch and Friday had snow… 🙂 … but managed to get through it unscathed…

Looked outside this morning and saw Mr. Rabbit and Mr. Squirrel getting a snack before the morning rush…

rabbitsquirrel

Also saw a robin this morning (perched on the neighbors metal fence)…

sat robin

It may be entertaining thoughts about going back south… 🙂 while the weather event were going on decided to check out my supplies for starting and planting tomatoes…

seeds

I save seeds and have different varieties of tomatoes but I mainly plant Roma tomatoes… when they become ripe, I will clean the tomatoes real good, put in a zip-loc bag and freeze them..

froazen tomato

(The tomatoes you see are two years old)… of course, when they are thawed the tomato cannot be sliced but is good for stews, soups, salsas, etc.. the skin practically falls of and they have the texture of a canned tomato…

tomato basil

I eat the tomato as is with a dash of sweet basil… 🙂 …

Again I were ask the other day what I thought being a friend meant.. well, I have posted this in the past but believe it bears repeating.. my thoughts are much like those of Adam Clarke:

“Portrait of a Friend”

I can’t give solutions to all of life’s problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
search for answers.

I can’t change your past with all it’s heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can’t keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can’t prevent you from falling away from friendship,
from your values, from me.
I can only think of you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can’t give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can’t keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can’t tell you who you are or who you will be
I can only love you and be your friend
(Adam Clarke)

And here are my thoughts that rhyme.. 🙂

My Friend The Lady

The garden roses are red
The backyard violets are blue,
Brightness, delicacy, and warmth to behold
That starts me to think of you!

Your beauty, inside and out
That brightens the darkest skies,
Can feel the glowing warmth
Of your lovely, soft, eyes!

Your lovely soft hands
Used with passionate gentleness
Delicate nimble fingers
With a touch of tenderness

And there are your thoughts
That I cherish and treasure,
That I value so highly
They are beyond measure!

One who ventures ever forward
Facing life without dread or fear,
Yet not letting go of the precious past
Holding on to all that is dear,

A few thoughts of you, my friend
Coming from the heart
Thoughts that will never end
Even though in life, we may part.

(penned by Larry “Dutch” Woller, )

Well, I had better close.. venture on down the path looking for that elusive rainbow… “Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow, don’t walk behind me… I may not lead, walk beside me… just be my friend” ― (Albert Camus)… but I shall return one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

With a hint of spring in the air, giving some thoughts of my garden… 🙂

A Not So Secret Garden

I live in a not so secret garden
Along the path least traveled,
Quite unlike the other world
A world that has become unraveled.

A garden of peace and harmony
Being different does not matter here,
All creatures, big and small, living together
Unlike the other world, they do not live in fear.

Together we live the hand that Fate has dealt us
Not sure, or dwell, on our final destiny,
But live to enjoy the moment, the hour, the day
That is what life is about, don’t you see.

So into the not so secret garden I will venture
Along the path least traveled,
To find love, understanding, to follow one’s dreams
Unlike the other world unraveled.

Hello Diary,

It is a Tuesday and for a change a somewhat pleasant day weather wise with a hint of spring in the air… no snow, no winter present at the moment with some warming sunshine…

tues morn

Starting to see a few migratory birds also so another hint as to change… “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past and present are certain to miss the future.” John F. Kennedy….. keeping in the spring spirit, decided to check out my flower seed inventory..

veggie seeds

“A single rose can be my garden… a single friend, my world.” Leo Buscaglia… while not ready to plant, did contemplate planting the garden… 🙂 .. and speaking of contemplating, I did some contemplating as I saw the “clouds” in the sky…

contrails #1

Those “clouds” are referred to as “Contrails”, created by mortal’s flying machine as they seek out their destiny.. while I was contemplating their Fate, I also contemplated my Fate.. “Every single thing that has ever happened in your life is preparing you for a moment that is yet to come”….

I was not a king or president,
No powers did I hold,
I wasn’t a preacher or a pope,
No sermon for the fold.

So tell me , fate
You hold the key,
What is my destiny
Suppose to be?

Can no longer build cities
The back is tired and sore,
I was a soldier once
No longer have the heart for war.

So tell me, fate
You hold the key,
What is my destiny
Suppose to be?

I’ve tilled the soil as a farmer
Fed the world is what they say,
But I see the faces of hunger
Still this very day.

So tell me, fate
You hold the key,
What is my destiny
Suppose to be?

I’ve donated time and money
Ask for nothing in return,
I see nothing has changed
Will they ever learn?

So tell me, fate
You hold the key,
What is my destiny
Suppose to be?

I’ve tilled the fields and went to war
Built cities and bridges and much more,
Has my destiny run it’s course
Fate, is there any more?

So tell me, fate
You hold the key,
What is my destiny
Suppose to be?

Well, I will never know my destiny setting here so I had better venture on down the path least traveled.. 🙂 .. see what adventures lie ahead… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

I will be me, will follow my dreams and one day will find my destiny because……… I were born free… 🙂

“I am free born and free bred, where I acknowledge no man as my superior, except for his own worth, or as my inferior, except for his own demerit.” Theodore Roosevelt

Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart

Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

Stay free, where no walls divide you
You’re free as the roaring tide
So there’s no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
‘Cause you’re born free

(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You’re free as the roaring tide
So there’s no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
‘Cause you’re born free

A Spirit Born Free…

While dealing with the doldrums
That happen often in wintertime,
And while contemplating my tomorrows
Thought I’d pen some thoughts that rhyme.

As I venture through my life
With each step, all the while being me,
An open mind, a heart of dreams
A spirit, enjoying being free.

A spirit that views another
As another feels, wishes to be,
In a realm of acceptance
So another can enjoy being free.

Free…. to love another
No color, gender or race,
Only to know and feel happiness
No social walls to face.

Free to live life as one chooses
Follow a dream, the heart would say,
Free to walk ones own path of life
Filled with adventures along the way.

There are those who would color me different
Many to gaze upon me with dismay,
But unlike them, I’ve found happiness
Because I chose to live life my way.

Hello Diary,

Have been busy the week preparing for the next winter storm later today and another round of weather the weekend… taking some time from the activities to share a few thoughts… have been chatting about helping others, especially the children (there are some that say I am in my second childhood… “remember, growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional” 🙂 )..

One of the big issues is waste, especially with it being just me here on the path.. there are those that are hungry every day and in the meantime the world is getting rid of unwanted food in the refuse… well, in an effort to not prevent someone from having food, I have taken steps here (and still experimenting) on preventing waste with food, and energy.. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.” Helder Camara

By doing so, I not only help others but also me… first, I rarely purchase fresh food or vegetables… with fresh food and vegetables one can have spoilage if one is not careful… therefore, I purchase food primarily online, all the while being a wise shopper… 🙂 and storage is not a major concern to prevent spoiled food…

ingredients

I can mix and match various ingredients and what I do not eat I can freeze… by doing so I can cook healthy and I can also conserve energy… one method I use is my trusty energy efficient convection oven…

toaster oven

And should I need or wish to use a “burner”, I have my magnetic induction cooktop..

magnetic burner

It is digitally controlled and replaces a burner on a stove.. it has been years since I have used the stove for cooking and currently use it for storage and a counter top.. by using the adapter, I can use any of the cookware I currently own… of course, I cannot forget my trusty microwave… 🙂

micro

The uses of the microwave are many and it also is energy efficient… 🙂 using those three devices I made some potato soup..

potato soup

Also, by spending a hour or two on Monday in the kitchen I prepare the dinners for the week….

week dinner

To thaw out and warm up when ready to eat… I did not make the wine… 🙂

T-day dinner

Sooooooooo, for the most part I leave the fresh food for those that can use it rather than purchase it for myself and end up having some of the food spoil and it ends up in the refuse.. and personally I eat healthy, I eliminate energy waste and by doing so, I also save money.. it is a win, win for everyone… 🙂

Well, I had better close and venture on down the path.. “Every morning your have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams, or wake up and chase them.” … but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ― Barack Obama

If I had the power of the people and I ruled the world
After all that I’ve seen
And the places I’ve been
Nothing would be better than to make a change here or there
It’s easy to say
But there may be a way

Stand all the people in one line
Paint ’em all in green in the sunshine
Take some chances
Come on let’s find the answers

We may stumble never crumble
Face tomorrow everyone
All together share the load
If we ride our dreams down future road
We can ride our dreams down future road

Talking ’bout the power of the people not a perfect world
There’s a dream we can choose
One we never will lose
Take a look at all the hopes of every little boy and girl
We can see through the haze
Weapons melting away

Turn ’em all into a fun ship
Floating down the river of friendship
Sail forever
You and I together

May have dark skies looming, the path may be a bit bumpy and filled with unknown, but here on the path I have hope.. “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” Emily Dickinson

Hope…

Let me but live my life from year to year,
With forward face and unreluctant soul;
Not hurrying to, nor turning from the goal;
Not mourning for the things that disappear
In the dim past, nor holding back in fear
From what the future veils; but with a whole
And happy heart, that pays its toll
To Youth and Age, and travels on with cheer.

So let the way wind up the hill or down,
O’er rough or smooth, the journey will be joy:
Still seeking what I sought when but a boy,
New friendship, high adventure, and a crown,
My heart will keep the courage of the quest,
And hope the road’s last turn will be the best.

Hello Diary,

It is a Sunday morning, a wintry morning with March coming in like a polar bar instead of a lion… 🙂

snow sun

A somewhat leisurely day planned, and with winter still present, contemplating doing some needed dusting and house cleaning next week… although I will more than likely follow Rose Milligan’s advice… 🙂

Dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
to paint a picture, or write a letter,
bake a cake, or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must, but there is not much time,
with rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear, and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world’s out there
with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
this day will not come round again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go, and go you must,
you, yourself, will make more dust!

(Rose Milligan)

I took some time this morning to browse cyberspace and I was dismayed at the amount of suffering the children of this planet earth are feeling and having to deal with… children of all ages.. they did not ask to be brought into this world, for the most part they are not able to defend or even speak for themselves… they are the future of this world/universe and to treat the children in such a manner is inexcusable nor justified… for the most part caused by the actions of a element of world society in the name of something or someone…

Well, irregardless of their origins, (as I have said in the past) they have no need to fear here… “The greatest challenge in life is to be our own person and accept that being different is a blessing and not a curse”.. Kilroy Oldster

refugees

And, Diary, while you are aware of my helping here on the path, I also try to help in some manner in other places as well with what limited resources I have… “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.” Helder Camara

In history’s past I penned some thoughts that rhyme about children…

Maybe No More Children Will Die

I sat here looking at the news
The powers wanted peace they say,
And while they spoke, bombs were dropped
20 children died that day!

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die

Smiles on their faces, while shaking hands
Arms deals for defense would come into play,
A bomb went off in a crowded market
10 children died that day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give a world without bombs a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die

A war to end all wars, they said
Yet to war they always return,
Death, destruction, suffering and pain
Won’t they ever understand and learn?

What’s wrong with this idea?
Let’s give UNDERSTANDING and LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.

Anger versus anger, hate versus hate
Seeds sown by war at home and away,
Starvation , sickness, a mother in tears
More and more children die every day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give LOVE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.
( Larry “Dutch” Woller,)

Well, I had better close for now… my Kindle and a pot of tea awaits… maybe even write some more thoughts that rhyme… 🙂 … but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Perhaps with more love, learning, understanding and peace instead of hate, intolerance and prejudice no child on earth will have to sing this song…. 🙂

“Just because you feel someone does not love you as much as they should, does not mean they don’t give you all the love they have” on the path least traveled…

I Believe I’d Like To Be Different Instead…

And why do I wish to be different, you may ask,
The freedom to choose, to explore, to learn a lot,
Dictated to by a prophet chained to a myth…. NOT
Maybe so everyone can shout and point at me,
And say, “Hey, he’s different”, don’t you see.

My mind is clear and open, gathering knowledge every day
My spirit is young, adventuresome and floating free,
Not confined by those social chains, no box, no mold for me
I am what I am, I am me, what I wish to be,
Perhaps that makes me different, don’t you see.

So my heart’s compass is pointed to the horizon
Sails set full, safe harbor fading in the distance, a faint glow to eye it seems
And with a pocket full of memories, on the horizon are my dreams
On down the path least traveled I will venture, seeking whatever destiny waits for me
Why the path least traveled?..well, I’m different, don’t you see.

Hello Diary,

Another Friday morning, bringing the week to an end… it is also a hint as to what is to come for the weekend with the weather… it were a cold, frosty, foggy morning to wake up to…

sunrise fri

Also red skies (“red skies in the morning, sailors warning”.. 🙂 ) indicating moisture in the air… now what does cold temperatures and moisture mean… snow.. there is another Arctic winter storm brewing for here this weekend.. 😦 … but that too shall pass… and speaking of the climate, thought I would take some time from the days activities to share some thoughts about how I try to help deal with climate change and the environment…

First, I do not burn leaves… no smoke in the atmosphere, my neighbors are happy campers… 🙂 nor does it go to a landfill… I have a backyard compost bin…

compost bin

The backyard creatures like it for food, nest material, etc… I will at time bury unwanted vegetables, peelings, etc in the leaves.. I do not use meats or meat byproducts because that can attract unwanted pests and health hazards.. another item I put in the compost bin is paper, cardboard, etc..

shreddar

It is an excellent way to dispose of papers that one would not wish to be public.. again, no smoke, no landfill… now, there are some papers that are not a risk and with those I make notepads….

gluing note pad

I have a cutting board, some glue and I take a Sunday morning with a spot of tea and cut up paper and glue… once the notepad has been used, it then is put in the compost bin… and after a time, the worms and other backyard creatures turn the leaves, paper, etc into compost soil..

compost

And I use the compost soil in my potted plants, vegetable bins (indoors and outdoors)… also, I shop online at numerous places… ( I will go into cost benefits and waste reduction another time)..

ebay

walmart

By shopping online I will reduce emissions because I will not be driving everywhere trying to locate the product that I am looking for… the various delivery organizations are already out there so they may as well do the errands.. 🙂

Now, what I do is not necessarily for everyone.. 🙂 but I do believe that if in some manner “everyone would give or do a little, a few would not have to give or do a lot”… “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” -Mother Teresa

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ― Barack Obama

Well, I had better close for now… adventures and destiny await me (not to mention the laundry.. 🙂 ).. But I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Why do I do what I do one would ask?… to help the children, irregardless of each being different, to realize their dreams, to live their life being who they are and however they wish to and perhaps make this planet a better place for everyone.. for they are the future, they are the world…
