“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past and present are certain to miss the future.” (John F. Kennedy) on the path least traveled…

Hello Diary,

Popping in briefly to share a few thoughts…have heat warnings ongoing, and with today and tomorrow being near 100F degrees, will reduce activity and heat generating projects/chores for the next few days… 🙂

It will be a good time to venture down memory lane and store some memories in the “mind bank”, memories of things I may have done wrong so I can make sure not to repeat history, and store knowledge that I learned so I can use it in the future…“Any piece of knowledge I acquire today has a value at this moment exactly proportioned to my skill to deal with it. Tomorrow, when I know more, I will recall that piece of knowledge and use it better. “(Mark van Doren) … 🙂

And, of course, those precious memories to be stored in the “heart bank” for when I grow too old to dream…. 🙂

As I gaze upon the horizon
Where my Fate waits for me,
My mind gently browses the past
That which has become a memory.

I grew up on a farm
Ohhhhh, the dreams had I,
To save the world from the evil dragons
Once, as a ole Marine, I did try.

I once loved and and lost
Suffered a broken heart, they say,
But now the heart has mended
As love managed to find a way.

With my hands I helped build a nation
Now the back is tired and sore,
But no white flag of surrender here
With a heart of dreams to do much more.

There were those by whom I were scorned
As I ventured down life's highway,
They ridiculed and condemned
As I lived and loved life my way.

Of the life I lived, I have few regrets
Would not change a thing, I must confess,
And I will continue to be me
As I venture down the path of happiness.

As my mortal clock starts to wind down
One wonders, is there another life for me,
Sadly, I must close, and seek out Fate
For Fate has the answer, Fate is the key.
          (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

And, with memories carefully stored and looking to the future, “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last chapter.” (Author Unknown )… and following Mr. Kennedy’s advice, it is on down the path I venture….. 🙂

It is down the path least traveled I do go
To a rainbow filled horizon I venture,
To seek, to learn, know peace, to enjoy life
A path filled with wonderful adventure.

A place where one is accepted as who they are
A spirit kindred to life, when mortal born,
A being coming from the depths within
And not subject to ridicule and scorn.

A place where I know freedom of thought and being
I am what I am, don’t you see,
Neither this one, neither that one, but all the above
In a mortal world, a free spirit, that’s me.

I do not travel the path alone, you see
There are memories and spirits to behold,
Friends that share... the joy and sadness
As I gather more memories, down that least traveled road.

So how long will my journey be, one would ask
Will I see the end of the path...ever?
The answer, I believe, lies on the horizon
Somewhere past... the 12th of Never….

So shall bring my ramblings to an end
For there is one fact that I do know,
To reach the horizon, the 12th of Never
It’s down the path least traveled I must go!
      ( Larry “Dutch” Woller )

“I am what and who I am, venturing down the path of life, a spirit born free, following my dreams and my heart and leaving safe harbor with sails set full, to boldly go where I have not been before”… (Larry “Dutch” Woller)….. care to join me? 🙂 … “Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown)…. 🙂
Well, better close for now, life is calling and I (and helping others) need to finish preparing for the heat wave “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain”. (Author Unknown), but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ (along with the heat) and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Hope whatever path/road/trail you take is paved with love and joy and until we meet again….

May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.
     (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Hello Diary,

Have been busy dealing with climate and weather this week, preparing for the next heat wave next week, suppose to be in the 90F’s with humidity…“Nothing in life is to be feared, only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more so that we may fear less”  (Marie Curie) so adjusting the sails here “I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship.”  (Louisa May Alcott)… 🙂

So my heart’s compass is pointed to the horizon

Sails set full, safe harbor fading in the distance, a faint glow to see,

And with a pocket full of memories, on the horizon are my dreams

So  down the path least traveled I will venture, a spirit born free

                                                    ( Larry “Dutch” Woller )

Had a brief cool down early this week so ventured outdoors early in the morning and managed to get the mowing done (energy efficient electric mower)… 🙂

And looks can be deceiving because in spite of the blue skies the Environmental Protection Agency indicates that air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups for tomorrow (looingt south from the front door)…. 🙂

So will venture out when needed briefly and while avoiding any excessive heat producing labor, work on projects indoors… it will also be a good time to relax, have the Kindle at the ready and perhaps venture down memory land and in spite of the ups and downs, be thankful of the life Fate has given me even though I followed the path least traveled… 🙂

Thanks for letting me feel love
Be it joy, or be it heartache,
To know someone’s love
A treasured feeling their love did make.

Thanks for letting me live life
To explore, to follow one’s dream,
To seek out and live every adventure
Not enough time in the day... it did seem.

Thanks for letting me meet friends
To share thoughts of love, hope..perhaps a tear,
And by going down the path together in friendship
Doing away with hate, anger….and fear.

Thanks for giving me the courage
To follow my own path...to be me,
To not follow someone else’s path
To live my own….. reality.

Thanks for giving me an open mind
As I venture down the path... allowing me,
To gaze upon life’s treasures, large and small
That many others do not see.

Thanks for giving me an open heart
Able to love, understand and forgive,
And when I grow too old to dream
A place where my memories will live.

Yes, I have much to be thankful for
And every day the list gets longer... you see,
As I venture down the path least traveled
Searching for what destiny... has waiting for me.
                     (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

And in spite of challenges, looking forward to what the tomorrow’s may bring.. 🙂
Well, I had better follow my own words, close for now and take in the day as it won’t come again, will be busy tomorrow preparing for next week but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…. 🙂

Hope your path is paved with joy, love and peace, life is all that you wish for it to be and until we meet again…

May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.

“It’s time for greatness — not for greed. It’s a time for idealism — not ideology. It is a time not just for compassionate words, but compassionate action.  A lot of people are waiting for a Martin Luther King or Mahatma Gandhi to come back — but they are gone. We are it. It is up to us.”  (Marian Wright Edelman) on the path least traveled….

Hello Diary,

Stopping the world briefly..sitting here with a cup of Earl Grey and sharing a few thoughts… still dealing with life’s challenges, the weather up front at the moment, but keeping a close eye on other issues, some man made… with sadness I see closed minded elements of today’s world societies who, without wisdom, appear to inflict suffering on others in an attempt to follow their own ideology…“The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom” (Isaac Asimov)……………. 🙂

Well, while I am dealing with challenges of a personal nature here on the path, I have not turned a blind eye to others who could use some help, and not forget my responsibility, while living life and following my dreams, to make sure I do what I can to leave the world in a better place for those who will follow me so they can follow their dreams, “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do, it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t” (Rikki Rodgers)… …………. 🙂

So, in my busy day I do take the time to share and work with others and hopefully together we can have a world something similar to my not so secret garden, a place where one can be who and what they wish to be, to follow their heart and their dreams………. 🙂

A garden of peace and harmony
Being different does not matter here,
All creatures, big and small, living together
Unlike the other world, they do not live in fear.

Where one is free to boldly walk the lands, both far and near
To live one’s life without suffering or fear,
Not to be accepted by belief, gender or race, you see
But by the love, understanding and knowledge of a spirit born free.

Together we live the hand that Fate has dealt us
Not sure, or dwell, on our final destiny,
But live to enjoy the moment, the hour, the day
That is what life is about, don’t you see.

So into the not so secret garden I will venture
Along the path least traveled,
To find love, understanding, to follow one’s dreams
Unlike the other world unraveled.
                       (Larry “Dutch” Woller )
Together we can do this for we are the world, “If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right” (Mary Kay Ash)….. 🙂

And rather than waiting on someone else, let it begin with me… 🙂

Well, I had better close for now, have those pesky challenges to deal with, not to mention the laundry and other projects too numerous to mention… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…… 🙂

Hope your path in life is paved with peace, love and happiness and until we meet again…..

May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
May the dreams you hold dearest
Be those which come true
May the kindness you spread
Keep returning to you
          (Irish Saying)

Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂 Me 1 copy Hello Diary, Taking a break from dealing with life’s challenges briefly, still dealing with heat, drought, may see some storms the weekend but “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain”. (Author Unknown) so I have my dancing shoes on (a slow waltz) and a positive attitude as I adjust my sails all the while being me “The greatest challenge in life is to be our own person and accept that being different is a blessing and not a curse”. (Kilroy Oldster)… 🙂 ………………… And in sadness looking upon some of life’s storms (not weather related) that is bringing suffering to many in one form or the other, but rather than sitting here feeling sorry for myself, do what I can to help those to a better world so they too can follow their dream.. “Nothing in life is to be feared, only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more so that we may fear less” (Marie Curie)… 🙂 ………………….. Together there is much we can do and what we do may seem small at first glance, but “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” ( Mother Teresa) … and there may be times when we feel like we are doing it alone, but together we can make a difference and make the world a better world for everyone.. “We may not have it all together but together we have it all” (Author Unknown)… 🙂

The new year is rapidly approaching
As I contemplate the tomorrow,
Leaving with some memories filled with happiness
A few memories filled with sorrow.

As I peer out my window
Parts of the world, cold and bleak,
A world of conflict, anger and hate
Mortals are suffering as I speak.

But we have a dream
My friends and I,
That one day there will be peace
No more mortals will die.

And there will be hope
Of a world filled with love one day,
A wish that could come true
For hope is the last to die…they say.

Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice...you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.

So I peer out the window
Not with sadness or a tear,
But a heart filled with hope and a dream
Of a world of love and peace, not hate and fear.
                         (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

If not today, there is always tomorrow…. 🙂 And in spite of life’s challenges, we can continue to follow our dream filled with hope because “The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible.” ( Joel Brown)… 🙂

HOPE IS

Hope is a feather floating in a bright blue sky
Hope is that sparkle that shines in your eyes.
Hope is a butterfly fluttering on the wind
Hope is good times spent with family and friends.

Hope is a newborn baby’s cry
Hope is a Mother’s lullaby.
Hope is the rainbow after a rain
Hope is the harvest of golden grain.

Hope is the light that keeps darkness at bay
Hope is the breeze on a hot summer day.
Hope is ever present and free of cost
Hope is the last thing ever lost.

Hope is staying positive when the going gets tough
Hope is seeking help when you feel you’ve had enough.
Hope is recovery from simmering sorrow
Hope is believing in a brighter tomorrow.
                    (Linda Hotger)
Well, I had better close for now, prepare for life’s challenges and adventures it may bring, adventures filled with hope and dreams in spite of life’s challenges, but I shall return again one day, Fate willin’ and the creeks don’t rise.. 🙂

Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Thoughts from the heart
I’m sending to you.

Not just another day, my friend
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing this day together.

So, have a wonderful day, my friend
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, AND your heart
Be filled…...with love and happiness.
    (Larry “Dutch” Woller)
