Hello Diary,

Happy New Year to everyone from the path least traveled!!…. 🙂

The new year is rapidly approaching
 As I contemplate the tomorrow,
Leaving some memories filled with happiness
A few memories filled with sorrow.

 I peer out my window
At a winter world..cold and bleak,
A world of conflict, anger and hate
Mortals are suffering as I speak.

 But we have a dream
 My friends and I,
That one day there will be peace
 No more mortals will die.

 And there is hope
Of a world filled with love one day,
A wish that could come true
For hope is the last to die...they say.

Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice... you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.

So I peer out the window
Not with sadness, sorrow or fear,
But a heart filled with a dream
That everyone.. has a wonderful new year.

Decision made, with eyes on the horizon
It’s down the path least traveled I do venture,
Excitement fills the air, a smile on the face
Looking forward to a great adventure.

So my heart’s compass is pointed to the horizon
Sails set full, safe harbor fading in the distance, a faint glow to see,
And with a pocket full of memories, on the horizon are my dreams
So  down the path least traveled I will venture, a spirit born free
                                                     ( Larry “Dutch” Woller )

What is my dream for 2021, one would ask?…. 🙂 And no matter what life’s challenges 2021 will bring, we will see it through together, the way friends do.. 🙂 That being said, will see you next year, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise!.. 🙂

Hello Diary,

There will be many who will not have a very Merry Christmas this year..
So will spend some time trying to bring some cheer into their part of the universe “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” (Maya Angelou)… 🙂

In the mean time Merry Christmas from me… 🙂

With Christmas on the horizon, and
Among garland and bows of red and blue,
 Thoughts directly from the heart
 I’m sending straight to you.

 Not just another  day
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
 We’ll be sharing today together.

So, have a wonderful day (and every day)
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, and your heart
 Be filled…...with love and happiness.

My wish for 2021 (and 2020)… 🙂 Hello Diary… Got some snow overnight… 🙂

Yes, Christmas is a week or so away, New Year soon to follow.. may pop in Christmas and New Years Eve briefly but thinking I will stop the world and get off for a couple of weeks, return after the New Year.. relax the ole fingers for a time, maybe write some thoughts that rhyme… 🙂   drink a glass of cheer while strolling down memory lane… but before I do, sharing another memory of a Christmas when I lived on the farm… 🙂

(I am standing up)… 🙂

It were a ole drafty two story farmhouse and my brother and I slept upstairs and my Mom and Dad slept downstairs directly below us…. 🙂

 It’s twelve days till Christmas
 And as I look around,
Checked every package under the tree
No toys for me were found.

But I’m not one bit worried
 The sadness it won’t last,
 Because I have some memories
 Of many of Christmas past.

 One Christmas eve in particular
For the night my brother and I retired,
It wasn’t long into the night
 The imagination was fired.

We had train track all over the floor
 Much to Mom’s dismay,
All night long, sending messages back and forth
 Wondering about Christmas day.

But in a blink of an eye
 All got quiet real quick,
There was a shadow in our door
And it definitely wasn’t ST. Nick!

 It’s Christmas morning….wait there’s a honk
And I looked out the window to see,
It was just my neighbor in his car
 Bringing me back to reality.

 But that’s ok, I haven’t grown old
And I’m not even gonna start,
I’ll be forever young, don’t you see
 With Christmas in my heart.
              ( Larry “Dutch” Woller    )

Yes, I can remember those holidays when family gathered from the four corners of the earth on Christmas day to enjoy that Christmas dinner… 🙂 Well, with that I shall close for 2020 (is that cheering I hear??… ), relax a bit and take in the holidays, but I shall return again in 2021, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂 In the meantime, have a mostest wonderfulest holiday ever and a very Merry Christmas and New Year filled with love and happiness… 🙂

Christmas Is Coming, White Or Not…….

Tis rain and fog, not a snowflake in sight
Looks more like Christmas in Hawaii, and this I fear,
With the weather forecast in hand
May not be a white Christmas this year!

The tree is trimmed, not as many lights this year
The presents are fewer, but tis the thought that counts,
Maybe not as plentiful, but food is prepared
As Christmas draws near and excitement mounts!

The spirit is in the air, the weather not to matter
And I am caught up in the spirit, I must confess,
So white or no, Merry Christmas to ALL!
And  may all your presents be filled…. with love and happiness!!
   ( Larry “Dutch” Woller, )

Unfortunately, decorations and wrapping presents is not the only projects needed doing this holiday.. 🙂

It were a few days before Christmas
 With a half decorated tree,
It were all quiet in the house
All still in slumber, you see.

 Still in my pajamas
 All snuggled in bed,
With visions of winning the lottery
 Dancing in my head…

 There were a loud noise
And I awoke with a start,
 I shuffled to the windows
 The curtains I did part.

 Was it 9 tiny reindeer
With a jolly elf dressed in red?
 Disappointment in the air
It were the garbage collector instead.

 I ventured to the kitchen
For a spot of tea and some toast,
 Opened the fridge to find
A turkey and dressing to roast.

Ventured to the room with the tree
Being warmed by the morning sun,
At a glance I realized with a frown
That there’s dusting to be done.

In the corner were the vacuum
 Looking so forlorn,
 It needs to be run
 Some time before Christmas morn.

 Presents needing paper, ribbons
 Bows and all that matter,
I stand outside with rake in hand
A yard full of leaves to gather.

 A present under the tree
Could it be my favorite toy?
Then a thought came to mind
I may be too tired to enjoy…

One cannot have holidays without a bit of humor, correct Mr. Stevens?.. 🙂 Hello Diary, Getting away from then holiday festivities briefly, while enjoying the spirit of the holiday, here on the path one still keeps in mind responsibilities.. and one has to do with the environment and dealing with paper… I have been a volunteer observer C.O.O.P for the National Weather Service for 19 years… instead of paper, I use a small recorder..

When I venture out to gather data, I turn the recorder on, put in this handy little pouch, hang it around my neck and have hands free operation… 🙂
Also, when I wish to make quick notes indoors I use what is referred to as “boogie boards”.. They are battery powered, erases by pressing a button and remind me of the old chalk board.. This one is 10 inch…

I also have a smaller board that I carry around at times…

Now, the world still uses paper.. What do I do with the used paper one would ask?.. I make note pads, I recycle the paper and it gives me something to do on those cold winter days… first, I get out the cutting board and cut the paper to the size notes I wish to make..
I then gather the supplies I need to make the note pads…
I then assemble and glue the pads…

And once the glue dries, I have note pads… the one on the left is approximately 3 inches by 4 inches and the one on the right is approximately 2 inches by 8 inches…

So, that gives you a brief idea of what else is happening in this corner of the universe this holiday besides the holiday festivities.. And with that being said, will quit rambling and close for now, but shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

And in parting, some humorous of COVID-19 by Mr. Stevens… 🙂

“No matter the pain or suffering, it is always better if it’s a burden shared by two, instead of a weight carried by one alone”… (Larry “Dutch” Woller) on the path least traveled…

Hello Diary…

Taking a brief break in the holiday festivities to share few thoughts… in spite of the holiday cheer, there are many who are having to deal with life’s challenges and the holiday may not be so cheerful… perhaps in need of a friend… “A friend may be waiting behind a stranger’s face.” (Maya Angelou)….. 🙂

 "Portrait of a Friend"

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
 search for answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

 Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

 Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship,
 from your values, from me.
I can only think of you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
 room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are or who you will be
I can only love you and be your friend
                                       (Adam Clarke)

Soooooooooooooooo, following Adam Clarke and Bill Wither’s advice my door is open… 🙂

Well, I had better close for now, destiny is waiting for me and I don’t look back too often because there is much in front of me that I wish to see… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Remember, no matter how dark the skies, always keep a dream in your pocket.. “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly.” (Langston Hughes )… 🙂

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them. “ (Louisa May Alcott) on the path least traveled…

It is the holidays and the one thing we have more of here on the path than anything else is HOPE… 🙂

 HOPE IS

Hope is a feather floating in a bright blue sky
Hope is that sparkle that shines in your eyes.
Hope is a butterfly fluttering on the wind
Hope is good times spent with family and friends.

Hope is a newborn baby’s cry
 Hope is a Mother’s lullaby.
Hope is the rainbow after a rain
Hope is the harvest of golden grain.

Hope is the light that keeps darkness at bay
Hope is the breeze on a hot summer day.
Hope is ever present and free of cost
Hope is the last thing ever lost.

Hope is staying positive when the going gets tough
Hope is seeking help when you feel you’ve had enough.
Hope is recovery from simmering sorrow
Hope is believing in a brighter tomorrow.

Hello Diary,

The last time I visited I shared a holiday memory of little Bree.. Well, we had two Jack Russell’s, Bree were considered a short hair Jack Russell, my late wife Kathy had Miss Daisy (Miss Daisy passed away in 2014) and she was considered a long haired Jack Russell… 🙂

She were the oldest, the head of the pecking order and in charge and preferred the title of “couch potato”… 🙂 and at Christmas, even though they both got the same present, Bree and Miss Daisy wanted what the other had so they would exchange gifts… 🙂

Yes, another Christmas memory remembered and hopefully many more to be made, not only with family but perhaps friends and others.. “Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown).… 🙂

 As Christmas approaches
 One contemplates not the day,
But all the years of memories and thoughts
That one acquired along the way.

Memories filled with sadness, sorrow perhaps
Memories with happiness and joy, not fear
Memories to bring out the laughter
Memories to bring out  a tear.

A special day and one to treasure
And not because of the calendar age,
Because a life of memories and thoughts
Today will be adding another page!

Even though a distance and time apart
It will be a day that we will all share,
Our spirits knows no time or distance
Be assured, I will be there!

Today will become our memory, and we will share
 Christmas day, every day…... forever,
 Because of our spirits eternal
 Beyond…………. the 12th of Never!!

 Merry Christmas!
                (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

And, no matter where we are we will always be home for Christmas because home is where the heart is… 🙂 Well, I had better close for now, more adventures in the wind and memories to be made… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise..

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night, no matter life’s challenges, wherever your heart is this Christmas, have a
