Hello Diary,

It is a Friday morning, a holiday weekend arriving here on the prairies… a weekend to remember the fallen who have given the sacrifice while serving… those who passed because mankind, closed minded and filled with hate and prejudice, chose the sword over the pen when trying to settle differences… and all that were accomplished was the sowing of more seeds of hate, anger and suffering…

I know first hand about the cost of conflict… that is me sitting on the ground, South Vietnam, 1966…. It were a beautiful country with pleasant people who simply wish to follow their dream…unfortunately there were closed minded elements of worlds societies who were only interested in their dream, ready to sacrifice anyone else’s dream… fortunately for me, I survived the conflict relatively unscathed… 🙂

(me sitting on the ground).

We were volunteers, one and all
So Noble.. Proud.. and Brave,
Did not know the reasons for war
Just a people from tyranny to save!

Glasses held high, we made an toast
Surely that Victory would rule the day!
While back at home, the voices of unrest
Not a kind word for us did they say.

Some could not vote, children were we
Some not old enough to drink, but still our battle cry,
Even with all that we could not do
For us children, it was to do or die!

Vietnam was a hostile, violent land
The dangers, the horrors of war abound,
Whether the paddies of Vietnam or the fields of home,
Seemed for us, not a friend could be found.

But we proudly gave it our all
Faced our destiny, with a hint of fear of tomorrow
Some to return to a mother’s joy
Some to return to a mother’s sorrow.

So should you be looking on today
One more toast, hold your glasses high,
To PEACE, HOPE and LOVE, may they long endure
CHEERS, LADS AND LASSIES!!!.. And SEMPER FI
(Sgt, Larry “Dutch” Woller, 12th Marine Regiment, Vietnam, 1965–1966...)

Here on the path there will be a pause to think, not only of the fallen, but also those who sacrificed their dreams also, the Mothers, Fathers, Wife’s, Husbands, Daughters and Sons of the fallen who will be remembered this holiday weekend… 🙂 And once the pause is over, all attention will be focused on the pen and hopefully wisdom will one day reign, peace will rule the land and the universe will be celebrating the living, not the dead… 🙂

Well, I had better close for now… the vaccination were relatively painless and, while I will proceed with caution, am ready to leave safe harbor, set sails follow my heart… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Until we meet again..

May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your spirit only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.

The change is rapidly approaching
As I contemplate the tomorrow,
Leaving some memories filled with happiness
A few memories filled with sorrow.

I peer out my window
Parts of the world, cold and bleak,
A world of conflict, anger and hate
Mortals are suffering as I speak.

But we have a dream
My friends and I,
That one day there will be peace
No more mortals will die.

And there will be hope
Of a world filled with love one day,
A wish that could come true
For hope is the last to die…they say.

Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice...you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.

So I peer out the window
Not with sadness or a tear,
But a heart filled with hope and a dream
Of a world of love and peace, not hate and fear.
                         (Larry “Dutch” Woller)
My friends and I would like to teach the world to sing “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” (Plato).. 🙂

Hello Diary,

Yes, I got a view of the world outside of the path and saw suffering at the hands of mankind… closed minded ideologies using conflict, as they have been for centuries… in reality not solving issues but sowing the seeds of  hate, anger and suffering…. lives and dreams being shattered because, as Ray Stevens said “there is none so blind as he who will not see”… when will they ever learn, one wonders… 🙂

There is no conflict here on the path for I am independent and not into closed minded ideologies… the mind is open, not dictated to by a belief, the spirit is free to seek out adventure and perhaps see things many do not, and a heart that is not filled with hate and anger, but dreams… 🙂

While sipping a spot of tea
And relaxing in the morning time,
While contemplating my tomorrows
Thought I’d pen some thoughts that rhyme.

As I venture through my life
With each step, all the while being me,
An open mind, a heart of dreams
A spirit, enjoying being free.

A spirit that views another
As another feels, wishes to be,
In a realm of acceptance
So another can enjoy being free.

Free…. to love another
No color, gender or race,
Only to know and feel happiness
No social walls to face.

Free to live life as one chooses
Follow a dream, the heart would say,
Free to walk ones own path of life
Filled with adventures along the way.

There are those who would color me different
Many to gaze upon me with dismay,
But unlike them, I’ve found happiness
Because I chose to live life my way.
                         (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Well, I had better close for now, venture on down the path as I know new adventures await me…but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Until we meet again..

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE, LOVE and LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.

Hello Diary,

Thought I would stop the world briefly, dismount and share a few thoughts…. last Friday I finally were able to get my Covid vaccination… I received the Johnson & Johnson one shot, one and done…  today it is Sunday and I have yet to experience any side affects or symptoms, hopefully that will continue…. I will still proceed with caution while dealing with the virus on a daily basis… 🙂

I seen a number of discussions as to how to protect the card, whether to laminate or not… some vaccines require a second vaccination, the vaccine I received does not but I still may need access to the card in the future… well, I first took a picture with the cellphone so I have it there, then I came up with a idea…

I had a old picture album with blank envelopes, so I carefully removed one of the envelopes… 🙂

Once removed, I took the card and inserted in the envelope against the top and back…. 🙂

Being careful and making sure I leave a small border, I trimmed the bottom and open end… 🙂

I then carefully used some clear Scotch tape to close the bottom…. 🙂

I carefully trimmed the tape and, Voila! I have a envelope that not only protects the card, but also enables to see without removing and should it be necessary, can remove the card… 🙂

I thought I would share my thoughts and perhaps it will help someone or perhaps give a hint that will enable someone to conjure up their own idea because that’s what old friends do… 🙂

Well, I shall close for now, rejoin the world, and follow dreams being led by the heart… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Until we meet again, today and every day…

May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your spirit only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.

Destiny sits upon the morning horizon
Always in site, but never clear
And as I travel along the road I have chosen
Destiny remains forever in place
Sitting upon the morning horizon

But as the years pass
And the road spans the distance
Between yesterday and tomorrow
I know my destiny will arrive

For time alone will close the gap
So yesterday becomes dust filled memories
And the horizon of tomorrow
Will be the road of today

For then, there will be no yesterday or tomorrow, only today
And when that day arrives
I will find peace and be complete
For I will be one with my destiny

Hello Diary,

Yes, the road, and our dreams, to our destiny is filled with life’s challenges.. Monday, the day after Mother’s day, Ole Man Winter tried to put a damper on dreams by paying a visit, that is frost on the roof.. 🙂

But, not even Ole Man Winter will hinder our venture as we have our dream in our pocket and will not be denied… 🙂 “There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.” (Douglas H. Everett)… 🙂

In history’s past, on the path, I had a dream
Of a world in harmony it did seem,
Accepting one as to who they believe and are
Of one’s life’s choices no one did bar.

Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice...you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.

Being free to climb a mountain, to touch a star
Free to search the universe, where answers are,
Free to venture through life, with open mind
Another’s belief, it did not blind.

Being free to boldly walk the lands, both far and near
To lives one’s life without suffering or fear,
Not to be accepted by belief, gender or race, you see
But by the love, understanding and knowledge of a spirit born free.

And children could follow their own dream, you see
Not to be denied by another’s ideology,
To follow the destiny of their own choice
Not to be hindered by another’s voice.

I still have that dream, you know
A dream that began a long time ago,
A dream without end, each and every day
Until the four winds, they all blow away.
                          (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

There is always hope… 🙂

Well, will close for now.. preparing to get the covid vaccine and, with eyes on the horizon and destiny, will venture on down the path of life… but I shall return one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise.. 🙂

Hello Diary,

To Mom and all the mom’s of the universe, past, present and future who have shown a love (second to none) for another, who have sacrificed, known joy and heartache even though received little praise for the efforts, have a wonderful Happy Mother’s Day, on Mother’s day and every day, and may each day be filled with peace, love and happiness and thank you for being you!…  🙂

Thank you Mom… 🙂

Thanks for letting me feel love
Be it joy, or be it heartache,
To know someone’s love
A treasured feeling their love did make.

Thanks for letting me live life
To explore, to follow one’s dream,
To seek out and live every adventure
Not enough time in the day... it did seem.

Thanks for letting me meet friends
To share thoughts of love, hope..perhaps a tear,
And by going down the path together in friendship
Doing away with hate, anger….and fear.

Thanks for giving me the courage
To follow my own path...to be me,
To not follow someone else’s path
To live my own….. reality.

Thanks for giving me an open mind
As I venture down the path... allowing me,
To gaze upon life’s treasures, large and small
That many others do not see.

Thanks for giving me an open heart
Able to love, understand and forgive,
And when I grow too old to dream
A place where my memories will live.
          (Larry “Dutch” Woller )
Yes, Mom, without you I could not fly.. 🙂

Will close for now, venture down memory lane while gathering new memories… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Until we meet again..

May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your spirit only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.

Yes, due to closed minded elements of today’s world societies, there are conflicts of many kinds and I believe that it affects the children the worst, with unnecessary suffering… 🙂

Through the eyes of child… 🙂

I woke up this morning in a rush
Eagerly to start the day,
Hopefully to learn about the world
Maybe even have time to play.

I have many, many friends
Each one somewhat different than me,
But none of us mind at all
We believe it were meant to be.

Decided to check in with my friends
Before Mom gave the breakfast call,
So with anxious hands I started my little tablet
Were going to say hello to one and all.

My smile and joy were soon gone
As sadness did take its place,
My vision become blurry
A tear, ventured down my face.

I read a text in my inbox
With conflict, some of my friends did die,
With trembling lips I looked to the horizon
With heavy heart asked the question “WHY?”.

Just children wanting to live their dream,
Why is that so very wrong,
Their dream were taken away
So someone could prove their strong.

You know, my heart will mend
For their memory lives in my heart,
And one day, together, we will laugh and play
Not even distance will keep us apart.

I finish this with a smile on my face
For I know my friends and I will meet again,
And together we will follow our dreams
For it will be a new beginning, not the end.
            (Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Hello Diary,

Here on the path there are no guns, bullets or bombs for here on the path we venture down life’s highway, not with the fears of a closed mind, but the dreams of a open heart… in peace… 🙂

I set here looking at the news
The powers wanted peace they say,
And while they spoke, bombs were dropped
20 people died that day!

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more Fathers will die

Smiles on their faces, while shaking hands
Arms deals for defense would come into play,
A bomb went off in a crowded market
10 people died that day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give a world with LOVE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more Mothers will die

A war to end all wars, they said
Yet to war they always return,
Death, destruction, suffering and pain
Won’t they every learn?

What’s wrong with this idea?
Let’s give LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more Children will die.

Anger versus anger, hate versus hate
Seeds sown by war at home and away,
Starvation , sickness, a family in tears
More and more people die every day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE, LOVE and LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more people will die.
( Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Here on the path the only weapon is love and understanding.. like helping my friends in India as they face life’s challenges… 🙂

Well, I had better close for now, have challenges of my own to deal with, but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Until we meet again..

May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
Brightened by a song
in your heart,
And warmed by the smiles
of people you love.
(Irish Saying)
The time has come, let us begin
With all our voices joining in
To sing of love and brotherhood
People doing what they should to
Help there fellow man decree
And fill this land with harmony
The young and old, the rich, the poor
Making sounds, never heard before

Harmony! Harmony!
Let's all join in harmony
Sing away the hurt and fear
A great new dream will soon be here

Like the shepherd guards his sheep
Watch your children as they sleep
Like the potter turns his clay
Help to shape a better day,
And let us sing a song of love
There's one thing I'm certain of
Love will fill the hearts of men
Peace will come on earth once again

Harmony! Harmony!
Let's all join in harmony
Sing away the hurt and fear
A great new dream will soon be here

Harmony! Harmony!
Let's all join in harmony
Sing of love, and brotherhood
And people doing what they should
         (Ray Conniff)
