Hello Diary,

Thought I would briefly stop my venture down the path and share a few thoughts.. it has been a rainy, foggy and thundery past few days and add to that the negativity of today’s world and it does make for a gloomy day indeed… a day when doubt starts to creep in and has one wondering if one is doing enough to help make a better world, is it all worth the effort…  🙂

 

And while sitting here with a cup of tea other thoughts come to mind… like last spring when two young deer made a rare appearance on the path (one under the tree, the other near the flag pole)… were they telling me not to give up the ship?.. 🙂

And then there is Mr. Possum, doesn’t say much, quietly goes about his business and leaving everyone else alone, is he telling me to keep up the needed work?… 🙂

And then there are my friends, the birds, who greet me with a song every day…if I stopped would I no longer hear their lovely melody?.. 🙂

And, of course, there is the backyard’s furry tailed knucklehead, Mr. Squirrel, who lives each day like it may be his last..don’t believe he has an opinion, one way or the other… 🙂

There are the people of the world who I have been working with to help make this world a better place, don’t believe it would be right to leave them now, would it?… 🙂

There is the wonderful children of the world, whose minds have not yet been polluted by social ideologies “To me there is no picture so beautiful as smiling, bright-eyed, happy children; no music so sweet as their clear and ringing laughter.” ( P. T. Barnum)… if I stopped would it be the end of their dreams?… 🙂

And there are my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (Kayla & Mackenzie, twins), I helped bring them into this world, cannot turn my back on them now… 🙂

Sooooooooooo, I toss doubt to the winds, put away the white flag and I decide to follow the example of Mr. Ant and Mr. Ram… 🙂 And if progress is slow today, well, as Annie said, there is always tomorrow… 🙂 And when my mortal days are over, they can say with certainty, that even with life’s challenges, he not only talked the talk, he also walked the walk… 🙂
Well, I had better quit rambling for now, there is much to do, many dreams to help save  “We may not have it all together but together we have it all” (Author Unknown), and many adventures lie ahead, but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

And in wishing everyone, whoever and wherever you are, a St. Patrick’s Day filled with peace, love and joy and I would like to share some Irish sayings for you…  😉

Hello Diary,

Have been busy dealing with changes, seems everyone on the internet is making changes, difficult to keep up and stay connected at times...also dealing with life’s storms, in this case, the weather… damage at other locations have briefly affected me in some manner with the internet providers, etc., and the National Weather Service had the antenna that they use to send Storm Watches and Warnings damaged for area damaged, may not get repaired till end of April… 🙂

Scientists said with the changes in climate/environment that any weather event could be in the extreme when it occurs, unlike the old “normal” and seems to be happening..  so, in history’s past I took the time to sit down with a cup of tea and see what I could do to help with climate change, reduce my impact on the environment.. small things that would not place a burden on my life but combined with other peoples work and efforts, would help make a difference… 🙂
So, in a effort to reduce the pressure on the energy grid, I got energy efficient items for the home… kitchen appliances, tv, light blub… 🙂

I make sure when not needed, they are turned off, it also saves money… 🙂 I shop online the majority of the time… 🙂

I have greater access to a variety of products, can save money, delivered to my front door or the post office a block away, saving me from having to race all over the country, reduces the cost of a car, and dealing with the weather and for the climate it reduces the need for fossil fuels and reduces carbon emissions into the atmosphere.. 🙂 For taking notes, I have my recorder/players, reducing the need for paper… 🙂

I use the Sony to gather weather information and other info when I wish to listen and I use the Olympus when I wish to save on the pc as it has a USB port like a flash drive.. 🙂 I love to read…and to have greater access to books, to save money, to not worry about storage or damage to books and to avoid using paper, my weapon of choice is the Kindle… I have a 7” Kindle Fire and a 7” Paperwhite.. I use the Paperwhite when I am out and about because it is light and I use the Fire at home… 🙂

I also made a lightweight stand for the Fire so I do not have to hold it… 🙂

Again, reducing the demand for paper and by doing so reducing the pressure on the energy and climate by not having to make a paper book… my total library of about 2000 books are on the Kindles and I can access the library anytime, any place…. 🙂 And speaking of paper, like everyone I get mail from numerous sources often referred to as “junk mail”… well, I save that mail which as one side clear, the rest and envelopes get shredded and into my little compost bin outdoors… then on a cold wintery day, with a cup of tea, I gather the needed materials along with the saved paper and I make note pads… 🙂

Again, reduced the need for paper, recycled what paper I did have and did not require a landfill.. 🙂 Alone what I do may not make a great impact on the climate/environment, but combined with other peoples efforts world over, may not start a new beginning but will create a new ending, especially for the young folks that will follow and as Mr. Obama said it is up to us for we are the world… 😉

Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂 Me 1 copy Hello Diary, It is a cold, windy, rainy (may see some snow later) day, a good day to relax with a cup of Earl Gray and browse the book of memories and contemplate the tomorrows… “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain”. (Author Unknown).. 🙂 Spent the day yesterday preparing for today, did not forget my backyard friends, no creature turned away… 🙂

And did not forget others as I contemplated my continuing support ( time I can spare, funding that I can afford  and the use of technology) for folks like the World Community Grid and the American Institute for Cancer as they deal with diseases world over…and there is the National Weather Service and the Met Office  (United Kingdom) as they deal with weather and climate…and locally the foodbank and organizations to help children like the Cunningham Children’s Home…..just to name a few… 🙂

 

 

And I continue to support a school out west for children of North American Native Heritage (their ancestors where here when we were immigrants, legal or otherwise.. 🙂 ).. I received a nice letter from one of the children, she wishes to be a veterinarian… 🙂

She is brave and smart and I do believe her wish will come true, right Pinocchio.. 🙂
What I do (and have done) is a path of happiness I chose, with few regrets, and often my efforts have led me down the path least traveled as I go it alone because it makes me different..  🙂

And why do I wish to be different, you may ask,
The freedom to choose, to explore, to learn a lot,
Dictated to by a prophet chained to a myth…. NOT
Maybe so everyone can shout and point at me,
And say, “Hey, he’s different”, don’t you see.

My mind is clear and open, gathering knowledge every day
My spirit is young, adventuresome and floating free,
Not confined by those social chains, no box, no mold for me
I am what I am, I am me, what I wish to be,
Perhaps that makes me different, don’t you see.

My course is set, my ship, the Spirit, is loaded, my destiny awaits
So it t is down the path least traveled I must  go
To a mysterious rainbow filled horizon I  do venture,
To seek, to learn, know peace and  happiness,
A love paved path filled with wonderful adventure.

Now  my heart’s compass is pointed to the horizon
