Dear Diary Page 3…
After a busy week working on last years “to do” list, woke up this morning to a quiet morning as I ventured out to make observations for weather data to turn in…most songbirds have ventured further north or headed back south… cool last night so few A/C running… smile… as the sun rose and started to warm things up, shallow fog started to appear…
It is moisture being removed from the plants, and ground, called “evapotranspiration” or ET for short…reminded me of the old British Sherlock Holmes films with the fog… this one reminded me of the film “The Hound of the Baskervilles”.. and while on the subject of ET, finished up a project to install a ET gauge…
a gauge of my own and possibly one from the NWS (they wish to compare the two in a trial run) and retire the old evaporation pan… decided to fancy it up a bit, built a small fence and posts and will put the gauges on the posts…
While on the subject of weather, took this picture a couple of weeks ago.. The unusual formation is known as “virga” (rain evaporating before getting to the surface)…. normally the clouds look like rain clouds but these were a “pretty” white…
Took this picture of two wood pigeons in the shade trying to “beat the heat”.. look a great deal like doves only larger and a lighter color gray…rare for around here but the word is out about my Oasis here…smile…
Also checked on my status with the BOINC project…
which is connected to the University of Berekely, several reputable institutions, worldwide, use volunteer computers worldwide to help them research several projects..here are the one’s that use my computer and primarily focus on projects dealing with cancer;
Member (since 2005 to present) BOINC Project (University of Berkeley, Calif.); Princess Margaret Cancer Center/World Community Grid, SIMAP (Biology Universities of Munich and Vienna), POEM@Home (Biology and Medicine, University of Karlsruhe, Germany/protein research), Docking (Scripps Institute/University of Delaware).
Been a long, busy week but got lots done, more to do, and still managed to enjoy the moment, as it won’t come again…..smile…. will have a somewhat relaxing weekend as me and a little JR named “Bree” will continue down the path least traveled, following Enya’s advice… if Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…
