Winter, corndogs and Yanni on the path least traveled…

Dear Diary Page 61…

Hello Diary..

Got much accomplished over the past week, prepared for whatever Nature puts in the path least traveled…having said that, decided to get the meals prepared for the weekend and won’t have to cook the weekend, just the micro and the crockpot… will give me the weekend to “play by ear”, waiting till the morning wake up do decide what to do….

For tonight, opted for homemade chicken noodle soup and ham and cheese on toast….

soup for tonight

Got that ready for the micro and toaster later.. started on supper for Valentines day…. pork roast and veggies…

ready to put in crock pot

Got the veggies ready (potatoes, carrots, celery and onion) and put in the crock pot with some Cream of Chicken soup;

Rubbed pepper, garlic and poultry seasoning into the roast, then browned lightly in the skillet…

Then put in the crock pot and it is ready for tomorrow, start it in the morning…..

While I were gathering up the ingredients and preparing for dealing with the roast and veggies, came across some ingredients for something I had not had in a long time, decided to fix some while I had the mess in the kitchen…

fixins for corndog

Got the ingredients put together and ready for the toaster oven..

ready for oven

After cooking in the toaster oven for about 20 minutes or so, took the food out to cool and what do I have, one would ask………. A corndog.. 😀

Sooooooooooooooo with preparations for winter made, supper put together for tonight and tomorrow night, the cooking mess cleaned up in the kitchen, all I need to do is listen to Yanni, watch the snow fall and contemplate what the tomorrows may bring.. 😀

Adding a Valentines day poem I wrote years back..

A bouquet of flowers from my garden,
Their beauty need not be told,
Their fragrance is soothing and lovely
A pleasant scent for one to behold.

They remind me of you, my love
Whose beauty from within you do share,
Sharing sunshine, understanding and laughter
Sowing the seeds of love and happiness in the air.

This bouquet was picked for you, my love
For coming into my world, my dear friend,
For giving sunshine, laughter, love and happiness
For which I know will never end.
(Penned by Larry “Dutch” Woller May 5, 2008)

And so it goes on the path least traveled…. will leave you now, Diary, venture on down the path and see what lies waiting around the bend… will return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Another wintry day with Bree, birds and brooms on the path least traveled

Dear Diary Page 60…

Hello Diary..

Have had a busy week, keeping one eye on the weather… more winter to come they say so thought I would do my errands yesterday, not have them to deal with and be on the roads…there is a potential for 3-5 inches of snow Sunday/Monday but too far out to make any prediction at this time..stocked up and ready for whatever comes… while at the grocery, picked up a couple of sweet potatoes…

sweet potatoes

Put them in water to grow, use them for house plants.. can either leave them in water or put in a pot with soil..they will vine and flower.. my mother use to do that on the farm, would have them all over the house….did save some to plant to eat… 😀

Decided today to finish the housework.. had to wait till around 9 AM to change the bed because Bree slept in this morning.. And speaking of Bree, what does a bored Jack Russell do on a wintry day and too cold to go outside and play, one would ask, this….

Could not talk her into using it though, just chase.. and the sweeper is a lot more fun to chase than the broom or the mop… “D

bree and broom

But get housework done, we did..ventured out to check the instruments and make sure they were at the ready, topped the feeders for the birds and other creatures…

birds and squirrels

Soooooooooooooooo, I guess we’re about as ready as possible for whatever nature should send our way over the next few days….will stay indoors and listen to Secret Garden serenade spring…

And so it goes on the path least traveled..will leave you now, Diary, but will return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise….

A winter attitude on the path least traveled….

Hello Diary..

Woke up this morning, looked out the window and saw that winter is reluctant to leave in spite of Phil’s prediction, perhaps leaving something behind to remember winter by… 😀 took this picture at 0815 (that is weather talk for 8:15 AM 🙂 ) this morning….

snowfall 2-8-2016.

Going to feel like the North Pole for a few days they say, but I am still not moving to Florida… it’s all about attitude… 😀

And so it is for a Monday on the path least traveled.. will return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Rain, wind, chicken and London on the path least traveled…

Dear Diary Page 58…

Hello Diary..

After all the exciting news from Punxsutawney Phil about his forecast, settled in for a somewhat dreary, rainy, windy day outdoors, no storms as of yet….a lot of wind though, must be the weather as all the politicians are gone trying to get elected… 😀

That being said, Bree purchased some boneless, skinless chicken breast that they had on sale the other day and decided that this rainy day would be a good day to make some homemade popcorn chicken….designated me the cook, so after getting chores finished, started in….

cooking popcorn chicken

Used some Fryin’ Magic and vegetable oil, cooked up a batch to put in the freezer.. of course, Bree was there with every tick of time to make sure I did it properly and used the proper amount of Fryin’ Magic…

Bree watching

Got them all finished and then put them on a cookie sheet and in the freezer to freeze overnight… that way they will not freeze together and tomorrow I can get them out and put in a Ziploc bag and back in the freezer and get out however many Bree needs at any given time… 😀

While doing that, were listening to one of my favorite radio stations live, Classic FM from London, England…how do I do that one may ask?.. I downloaded a site called TuneIn which is free ( there is a upgrade that requires a fee) which has over 100,00 stations live streaming worldwide… I have the site on a old 10” laptop/tablet…

10 inch laptop

Classic FM plays classical and contemporary music as well as some other music and when I turned it on this morning, the first song I heard was from a soundtrack of a movie that would be one of the first major films that I would see, it was in 1960 and the name of the song was; Exodus, which was the name of the movie…

With that being said, shall close now and finish the day later…possible stormy weather later today, perhaps some snow tomorrow.. and so it goes as we venture down the path least traveled… will return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise….

Punxsutawney Phil for president…..
