A peaceful morning, watching the sun arise
Thoughts abound, while sipping on a spot of tea,
While taking in Nature’s outdoor portrait
Contemplating, on what Fate may have instore for me.

Change is slowly coming, it whispers in the winds
The door is slowly closing on past history,
With a new awakening with the mind and spirit
But the future is still shrouded in mystery.

With the freedom of being different, in many ways
No social shackles do this mortal wear,
Do welcome change with open mind and spirit
No fear, no worry or dread do I bear.

Does change stop at mortal death, one wonders
Or does it go on forever and ever,
Will I ask the same at another time and place
Somewhere past the 12th of Never?

Will thought and spirit continue
When, as in all things, mortal life comes to an end,
Or does all things cease to be when
To the grave, the mortal body Fate does send.

Alas, but must deal with the present
So now will store thoughts and musings yet to be told,
For it’s down the path least traveled I do venture
To search and hopefully find….what life, and Fate, may behold.

Hello Diary…

Yes, here on the path one is lead by the heart and another is accepted as to who they are and their dream, born free….just like the garden and backyard….

The clematis is starting to make its presence known…

clematis

The clematis is the favorite of many, to grace the gardens with color and charm… then there is the honeysuckle..

honeysuckle

A favorite of my friend, the hummingbird, and sends its fragrance throughout the gardens…

But there is also the little white rose..

white rose

Though not like the roses one sees in all those bouquets, the little rose has beauty and love in its own, and shares that beauty all summer long…

And there is the Butterweed, wild and free, and looks like a little yellow daisy…

butterweed

Many considered the little flower as a weed, but here on the path it is accepted and reminds one of a song of love…

Yes, the world of the path knows harmony and free to follow one’s dream..

In history’s past on the path I had a dream
Of the world in harmony it did seem,
Accepting one as who they believe and are
One’s life’s choices, no one did bar.

Free, to climb a mountain, to touch a star
Free, to search the universe, where answers are,
Free to venture through life, with open eyes and mind
Another creature’s belief, will not blind.

Free to boldly walk the lands, both far and near
All the while following ones dreams, without fear,
Not to be accepted by social ideology, you see
But the love, kindness, knowledge within, of a spirit born free.

Free, for ones humanity to embrace
Not being labeled by belief, gender or race,
Free, for one’s dignity not to be denied
Though there’s many a mortal, who has tried.

Here on the path it’s not a dream, but a reality
To follow ones dream, with a open heart, you see,
Free to love another without fear, as it should be
For here on the path, one is born free.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Well, better close for now… have adventures waiting, dreams to follow and ready to set sails.. But I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

I’ll be seeing you..

Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Thoughts from the heart
I’m sending to you.

Not just another day, dear friend
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing today together.

So, have a wonderful day, dear friend
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, AND your heart
Be filled……with love and happiness.

I set here looking at the news
The powers wanted peace they say,
And while they spoke, bombs were dropped
20 children died that day!

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die

Smiles on their faces, while shaking hands
Arms deals for defense would come into play,
A bomb went off in a crowded market
10 children died that day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give a world with LOVE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die

A war to end all wars, they said
Yet to war they always return,
Death, destruction, suffering and pain
Won’t they every learn?

What’s wrong with this idea?
Let’s give LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.

Anger versus anger, hate versus hate
Seeds sown by war at home and away,
Starvation , sickness, a mother in tears
More and more children die every day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE, LOVE and LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.

Hello Diary…

It is Memorial Day here on the prairies and for all those who, like me, ventured into harms way where many feared to follow and angels feared to tread, for their families and for everyone else….

My son were born on September 28, 1965, I received orders to go to Vietnam on September 30, 1965 and 2 and 1/2 weeks later left family and prairies for a world unknown…

We were volunteers, one and all
So Noble.. Proud.. and Brave,
Did not know the reasons for war
Just a people from tyranny to save!

Flag_of_the_United_States_Marine_Corps.svg

Glasses held high, we made an toast
Surely that Victory would rule the day!
While back at home, the voices of unrest
Not a kind word for us did they say.

(Vietnam 1966)
me vietnam

Some of us could not vote, children were we
Some not old enough drink, but still our battle cry,
Even with all that we could not do
For us children, it was to do or die!

(me sitting down)..

vietnam

Vietnam was a hostile, violent land
The dangers, the horrors of war abound,
Whether the paddies of Vietnam or the fields of home,
Seemed for us, not a friend could be found.

But we proudly gave it our all
Faced our destiny, with a hint of fear of tomorrow
Some to return to a mother’s joy
Some to return to a mother’s sorrow.

So should you be looking on today
One more toast, hold your glasses high,
To PEACE, HOPE and LOVE, may they long endure
CHEERS, LASSIES AND LADDIES!!!.. And SEMPER FI

Yes, not only health, environment and social storms, but Mother Nature decided to enter the mix also… fortunately no severe storms here on the path.. 🙂
Here on the path we do not raise the “white flag”, the storms do not stop us from living life, sharing thoughts and dreams with others, etc…. stayed out of the darkness but in the light, had a cup of tea, danced in the rain and ventured into the universe..

Here in the world of the path we are able deal with the storms because even though we are different, instead of closed minded ideology, we share the same world being who we are…

Just a few residents on the path… 🙂

I live in a not so secret garden
Along the path least traveled,
Quite unlike the other world
A world that has become unraveled.

A garden of peace and harmony
Being different does not matter here,
All creatures, big and small, living together
Unlike the other world, they do not live in fear.

Together we live the hand that Fate has dealt us
Not sure, or dwell, on our final destiny,
But live to enjoy the moment, the hour, the day
That is what life is about, don’t you see.

So into the not so secret garden I will venture
Along the path least traveled,
To find love, understanding, to follow one’s dreams
Unlike the other world unraveled.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller )

And while we are living life’s adventures, we don’t turn a blind eye to others that could use some help so they can follow their dream also, especially the children…

And all the while doing so in harmony… 🙂

Well, I had better close for now… more adventures waiting for me and possibly a few storms later.. but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Happiness is to have loved
Than have not loved at all,
To share love with another
To always heed one’s heart call.

Happiness is to follow one’s dream
To be who one wishes to be,
To live one’s own life one’s own way
Not live the life of another, you see.

Happiness is always waking up on
The green side of the grass,
Even though the day may be stormy
Knowing it too shall pass.

Happiness is knowing another
A understanding, caring friend,
Someone to share life’s memories with
A friendship to never end.

Happiness is to pen thoughts
Let the fingers do the walking,
Thoughtful words that come  from within
Because the heart does the talking.

Happiness is knowing when to end a poem
For it is down life’s highway I need to venture,
To gather more memories and thoughts to share
As I live, and enjoy, today’s new adventure.

Well, I had better close for now… adventures are waiting for me, so with a smile on my face and dreams in my heart, it is down the path I shall venture… but I shall return one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Hello Diary…

I have had a few folks inquiring as to what all being part of the BOINC Project amounts to… well, it depends on how involved one wishes to be… I will try to keep it brief… 🙂

First one needs to open the BOINC website; https://boinc.berkeley.edu/

boinc login

Then do a bit of research to see if it is what one wants to be involved in, and if so, download project manager…

boinc mamger

Once done one can set computing preferences that will work with one’s personal computer… also, one will notice there are numerous projects that one can choose to participate in… in this instance the project is World Community Grid…

One goes to their website; https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org

grid login

After doing more research, if one decides to participate, one signs on, logs in and become part of a research team (at least the computer anyway).. 🙂 again, one will notice there are numerous projects available to participate in… one choose projects and one sets computer preferences that will work with one’s personal computer… how involved one wishes to get is up to the person… 🙂

One then goes to Project Manager and connects to whatever projects one wishes to participate in..

I have been with World Community grid for over 15 years and at this time these are the projects I am currently active in…

projects

Basically, once set up, I start Project Manager, my computer automatically communicates with research computers, a certain amount of data is downloaded on my computer, my computer researches the data, automatically returns the findings to the research computers, who then sends more data to my computer to be researched and the process will continue as long as my computer is on and I have the manager started… 🙂

If one may be interested, I suggest going to the different websites and take some time researching and reading and then decide on whether one wishes to participate… 🙂

That being said, I had better close for now, life is calling and I had better see what it has instore for me.. But I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Hope is that sparkle that shines in your eyes.

Hope is good times spent with family and friends.

Hope is the rainbow after a rain
Hope is the harvest of golden grain.

Hope is the light that keeps darkness at bay
Hope is the breeze on a hot summer day.
Hope is ever present and free of cost
Hope is the last thing ever lost.

Hope is staying positive when the going gets tough
Hope is seeking help when you feel you’ve had enough.
Hope is recovery from simmering sorrow
Hope is believing in a brighter tomorrow.

I were relaxing with a spot of tea between storms and rain, contemplating the tomorrows when the folks at World Community Grid notified me that they needed help…

It seems the Scripps Institute is looking for volunteers to help them with this virus-19…

And were wanting to know if they could use my (along with other folks) computer to do research on the virus… well, knowing that friends, their families and other people were needing help, I did not hesitate to contact BOINC Project (University of Berkeley, California)…

And had the Project manager add the virus project….

So now here on the path there is research on the virus and cancer… all I can tell the virus is “you can run but you cannot hide”… Ole Dutch is coming for you… 🙂

Hello Diary…

There are many methods in today’s world of sharing friendship, and one of those methods with which one can share memories, thoughts and dreams with another, which can become special, is writing… and here I am preparing to write a letter to a friend in the very near future… 🙂

me letter

And as I am contemplating what to pen on the paper, the words of a song come to mind; “Back Home Again in Indiana”… 🙂
I am also going to write another letter in the very near future as a memory of history’s past came to mind.. A day when my daughter and my niece hid from their grandmother while in a store name “Huey’s Bargain Barn”… but that is another story for another day… 🙂

What is a friend one would ask?…well, I have shared these thoughts before but perhaps with today’s world in turmoil, it would be best to share again….. 🙂

“Portrait of a Friend”

I can’t give solutions to all of life’s problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
search for answers.

I can’t change your past with all it’s heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can’t keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.
Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can’t prevent you from falling away from friendship,
from your values, from me.
I can only think of you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can’t give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can’t keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can’t tell you who you are or who you will be
I can only love you and be your friend
(Adam Clarke)

Alas, I had better close for now…have friends to visit, adventures and life’s challenges (may see some storms in the near future) to explore… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

Why do I do what I do, one would ask?..because that’s the way old friends do… 🙂

Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Thoughts from the heart
I’m sending to you.

Not just another day, dear friend
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing today together.

So, have a wonderful day, dear friend
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, AND your heart
Be filled……with love and happiness.

Dear Mom,

Thanks for letting me feel love
Be it joy, or be it heartache,
To know someone’s love
A treasured feeling their love did make.

Thanks for letting me live life
To explore, to follow one’s dream,
To seek out and live every adventure
Not enough time in the day… it did seem.

Thanks for letting me meet friends
To share thoughts of love, hope..perhaps a tear,
And by going down the path together in friendship
Doing away with hate, anger….and fear.

Thanks for giving me the courage
To follow my own path…to be me,
To not follow someone else’s path
To live my own….. reality.

Thanks for giving me an open mind
As I venture down the path… allowing me,
To gaze upon life’s treasures, large and small
That many others do not see.

Thanks for giving me an open heart
Able to love, understand and forgive,
And when I grow too old to dream
A place where my memories will live.

Yes, I have much to be thankful for, Mom
And every day the list gets longer… you see,
As I venture down the path least traveled
Searching for what destiny… has waiting for me.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)

Hello Diary…

Yes, Mother’s Day is on the horizon…and for all the Mom’s out there (past, present and future) I know there are not enough of proper words to express the thanks and appreciation for the sacrifices you made, the love and kindness you gave and still give…. So I will put it all in these few words “Thank you and a very Happy Mother’s Day wherever you are”… 🙂

I received a invitation one day
Oh, not your regular kind,
The words not spoken or written
But were in the heart and mind.

To share a love and happiness
A love, that is precious and true,
A happiness that is eternal
That only lovers and dreamers knew.

The invite did not come the regular way
No cards, no letters, no phone.. you see,
It just appeared one day
In the depths, the spirit and heart of me.

The invite came from an unknown
A unknown too great for me to behold,
But it was to be a precious beginning,
Of a story, one day to be told.

( Larry “Dutch” Woller )

And there will be some like me who may not have Moms present (my wife passed away in March 2015 and my Mom passed away in December 2015) but they are always present as they occupy a special place in ones heart… “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” (Dr. Seuss)… 🙂

There is sorrow as I write this
A sadness in this heart of mine,
But knowing she’s free, suffer will she no more
All sorrow and sadness will heal… over time.

There will be happiness and joy
For her, this I know,
As she has joined loved ones
And to a place of peace and love she did go.

And one day I shall again greet my her
On my path… perhaps around the next bend,
It will be a joyful, loving reunion
And it will be the beginning, not the end.

And knowing this I will be happy
Precious memories, to come back whenever,
For like love, memories are everlasting
From now…….. to the 12th of Never.
(penned by Larry Woller )

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamonds glints in the snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaking in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand by my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die

Hello Diary…

Taking a brief break in a very, very busy week to share a few thoughts.. Inquisitive minds were asking about why I choose to learn Spanish.. Well, because I want to and the knowledge may help me understand the world others see through their eyes… unfortunately I do not live in an environment where I can be proficient at speaking the language and I have had to take a break from school, but I will soon be back learning… 🙂

It all started in circa 1961, I were a senior (12 grade) in school and were participating in the sport of football..

me football

It was early August, school had not officially started… we were allowed to use the practice field for exercise and practice the various plays but were not allow full contact, etc.. I were leaving the locker room to go to the practice field when I encountered a teacher, Mr. Shafer..

mr shafer

He had both arms and two bags filled with books and papers (he were preparing to teach for the new semester).. With a grin on my face, I ask him if he were going back to school.. Mr. Shafer smiled and said; “Mr. Woller, the day you need not gather anymore knowledge is the day of your funeral”… I have kept that advice to this day which leads to my statement; “ I am currently attending the School of Life, learning more about the universe and me… and Graduation Day will be the day of my funeral and it is then I will know if I failed or I succeeded and graduated”… (Larry “Dutch” Woller)…. 🙂

Back to the present, I decided to learn Spanish online and chose a school called The Spanish Blog…

the spanish blog

The teacher is a wonderful young lady by the name of Laura Garrido Eslava..

spanish blog 2

Sooooooooo, when time permits (hopefully in the near future I can establish a routine) I gather my notes…

And I am off to school…. 🙂

Alas, before I can go to school or celebrate, there are chores waiting to be dealt with so I had better close for now….but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Until we meet again..

A peaceful Sunday Morning, watching the sun arise

When, as in all things, time comes to an end,
Or does all things cease to be when
To the grave, the mortal body Fate does send.

Alas, but must deal with the present, this Sunday
So for now will store thoughts and musings yet to be told,
For it’s down the path least traveled I do venture
To search and hopefully find….what life, and Fate, may behold.

Hello Diary…

Yes, having a relaxing Sunday, nothing planned..sitting here with a spot of tea thinking about life’s challenges and the upheaval caused…perhaps a brief small change in attitude would help lighten the mood somewhat “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming; “Wow! What a ride!” (Hunter S. Thompson)… 🙂

I looked on the calendar and saw just the attitude mood changer needed here on the path… it is a celebration on Tuesday called Cinco De Mayo and I can do it here at home… Sooooooooooo, to prepare I need to get my necklace…

cinco de mayo

Then I need to get the sombrero out of storage….

Of course, I need a bottle of wine (white)…

white wine

And I am at the ready… 🙂

I shall refrain from speaking Spanish as I know just enough to get me in trouble if I am not careful… 🙂

That being said, one should enjoy those changes in attitude, right Jimmy??… 🙂

Alas, I must close for now, Diary…before I can celebrate I need to do the laundry, run the sweeper, do the mowing and take the garbage out…so it is Adios for now, but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

No matter the challenge or chaos, love will always find a way “You don’t love the person you can live with, you love the person you cannot live without” (Author Unknown)…..
