A Spirit Born Free…
While dealing with the doldrums
That happen often in wintertime,
And while contemplating my tomorrows
Thought I’d pen some thoughts that rhyme.
As I venture through my life
With each step, all the while being me,
An open mind, a heart of dreams
A spirit, enjoying being free.
A spirit that views another
As another feels, wishes to be,
In a realm of acceptance
So another can enjoy being free.
Free…. to love another
No color, gender or race,
Only to know and feel happiness
No social walls to face.
Free to live life as one chooses
Follow a dream, the heart would say,
Free to walk ones own path of life
Filled with adventures along the way.
There are those who would color me different
Many to gaze upon me with dismay,
But unlike them, I’ve found happiness
Because I chose to live life my way.

Hello Diary,
Have been busy the week preparing for the next winter storm later today and another round of weather the weekend… taking some time from the activities to share a few thoughts… have been chatting about helping others, especially the children (there are some that say I am in my second childhood… “remember, growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional” 🙂 )..
One of the big issues is waste, especially with it being just me here on the path.. there are those that are hungry every day and in the meantime the world is getting rid of unwanted food in the refuse… well, in an effort to not prevent someone from having food, I have taken steps here (and still experimenting) on preventing waste with food, and energy.. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.” Helder Camara
By doing so, I not only help others but also me… first, I rarely purchase fresh food or vegetables… with fresh food and vegetables one can have spoilage if one is not careful… therefore, I purchase food primarily online, all the while being a wise shopper… 🙂 and storage is not a major concern to prevent spoiled food…
I can mix and match various ingredients and what I do not eat I can freeze… by doing so I can cook healthy and I can also conserve energy… one method I use is my trusty energy efficient convection oven…
And should I need or wish to use a “burner”, I have my magnetic induction cooktop..
It is digitally controlled and replaces a burner on a stove.. it has been years since I have used the stove for cooking and currently use it for storage and a counter top.. by using the adapter, I can use any of the cookware I currently own… of course, I cannot forget my trusty microwave… 🙂
The uses of the microwave are many and it also is energy efficient… 🙂 using those three devices I made some potato soup..
Also, by spending a hour or two on Monday in the kitchen I prepare the dinners for the week….
To thaw out and warm up when ready to eat… I did not make the wine… 🙂
Sooooooooo, for the most part I leave the fresh food for those that can use it rather than purchase it for myself and end up having some of the food spoil and it ends up in the refuse.. and personally I eat healthy, I eliminate energy waste and by doing so, I also save money.. it is a win, win for everyone… 🙂
Well, I had better close and venture on down the path.. “Every morning your have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams, or wake up and chase them.” … but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ― Barack Obama
If I had the power of the people and I ruled the world
After all that I’ve seen
And the places I’ve been
Nothing would be better than to make a change here or there
It’s easy to say
But there may be a way
Stand all the people in one line
Paint ’em all in green in the sunshine
Take some chances
Come on let’s find the answers
We may stumble never crumble
Face tomorrow everyone
All together share the load
If we ride our dreams down future road
We can ride our dreams down future road
Talking ’bout the power of the people not a perfect world
There’s a dream we can choose
One we never will lose
Take a look at all the hopes of every little boy and girl
We can see through the haze
Weapons melting away
Turn ’em all into a fun ship
Floating down the river of friendship
Sail forever
You and I together
Impressive Dutch. I like the way you think and live. An inspirational is who you are. 💐

Your thoughts at the beginning of this post were much-needed today, my friend. Thank you. And as for the food … I buy mostly fresh food, but then I cook for three, give extra to our neighbors, and have 6 kitties to eat any remaining scraps, so very little goes to waste. But if I lived alone, you are right, it wouldn’t be efficient to cook “from scratch” so much, though I would have to every now and then, for I love the art of cooking! Keep safe and warm in the next round of winter, Dutch! Hugs!

Thank you for stopping by and glad you enjoyed the visit… I still cook from “scratch”, I just don’t use fresh vegetables but I understand as I don’t have to go through the process of preparing the vegetables… obviously what may work for one person may not work for another but the point is one can make subtle changes and still enjoy a quality life… 🙂
Do take care, be happy and until we meet again;
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Thank you for visiting… I expect all of us can share a bit of guilt as we are busy trying to follow our dreams… sometimes reality takes a backseat… 🙂

Hi Dutch, I like your combination of poetry and diary entries, and the photos! I was interested to see that you have a clip of the Australian group, The Seekers. I wasn’t aware of this album so it was good to have a listen. It contains some very pertinent ‘messages’. I look forward to reading more of your outlook on this life we find ourselves in!
