I Had A Dream…

In history’s past, on the path, I had a dream
Of a world in harmony it did seem,
Accepting one as to who they believe and are
One’s life’s choices no one did bar.

Free to climb a mountain, to touch a star
Free to search the universe, where answers are,
Free to venture through life, with open mind
Another’s belief, it did not blind.

Free to boldly walk the lands, both far and near
To lives one’s life without suffering or fear,
Not to be accepted by belief, gender or race, you see
But by the love, understanding and knowledge of a spirit born free.

Children could follow their own dream, you see
Not to be denied by another’s ideology,
To follow the destiny of their own choice
Not to be hindered by another’s voice.

I still have that dream, you know
A dream that began a long time ago,
A dream without end, each and every day
Until the winds, they all blow away.

Hello Diary,

Have been busy with dreams and life’s challenges and change.. thought I would stop the earth, briefly get off and share a few thoughts… 🙂 … were asked a time ago “If I had the opportunity to be someone, who would I like to be?”.. my answer, of course, were “ME”… 🙂 .. that being said, threw caution to the winds and started the new laptop over the weekend…

laptop2

It works!.. now all I have to do is learn how to use it… “If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right”. (Mary Kay Ash).. and learn I will … “No road is too long for him who advances slowly and does not hurry, and no attainment is beyond his reach who equips himself with patience to achieve it.” (Jean de La Bruyere )

Yes, have been busy with changes but may have to curtail the activities somewhat as summer has not given up yet and it could get quite warm for the next few days…
“Hazardous Weather Outlook
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
Unseasonably warm conditions are expected Tuesday through Thursday, with afternoon heat index values well into the 90s each day.”

I believe this ole bushytailed knucklehead squirrel may have the right idea…

resting squirrel 3

Though Hunter S. Thompson may disagree with him… “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming; “Wow! What a ride!” ( Hunter S. Thompson)…

I believe I will go with the squirrel… get me a glass of white and relax… “Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere” (Author Unknown)…

wine

Turn on some smooth jazz… “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” (Plato)… 🙂 ..

Find me a chair on the deck outdoors…

chairs

And watch the girls walk by (and others).. “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others;
for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness, and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” (Audrey Hepburn)… 🙂

Well, enough rambling for now.. need to venture on down the path, life is calling.. “Everyday one has choices, either to venture into the light, follow one’s dreams and live life, or stay in the shadows, the darkness and not know happiness…” (Larry “Dutch” Woller) .. 🙂 but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Yes, life does put challenges in one’s path in some manner from time to time, can make the journey a little bumpy at times… the universe knows I am not into religion but I believe there is a saying “God promised you a safe landing, he did not say the journey would be a smooth one”…. the condensed version for us born again heathens.. “That’s Life”.. 🙂 🙂

“There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.” (Douglas H. Everett) on the path least traveled…

Change is in the air while venturing down the road least traveled… 🙂

Destiny sits upon the morning horizon
Always in site, but never clear
And as I travel along the road I have chosen
Destiny remains forever in place
Sitting upon the morning horizon

But as the years pass
And the road spans the distance
Between yesterday and tomorrow
I know my destiny will arrive

For time alone will close the gap
So yesterday becomes dust filled memories
And the horizon of tomorrow
Will be the road of today

For then, there will be no yesterday or tomorrow, only today
And when that day arrives
I will find peace and be complete
For I will be one with my destiny

Who would know what lies ahead?… only time… 🙂

Hello Diary,

It is a pleasant day here on the path, air filled with peace and quiet… a gentle breeze bringing about a subtle change to the path (and perhaps everywhere)… the first change I noticed and have no control over is Spidey moving to a new location…..

spidey a

Apparently the last location wasn’t to his liking.. 🙂 while I do try to watch for the webs, especially this time of year, I almost ventured into this web and only seen it because I could see Spidey… 🙂 .. “Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing.” (Helen Keller)

Another change I have noticed over the last few days is the disappearance of birds… other than a occasional squirrel or rabbit, the feeders are bare… Hmmmmmmmmmm… 🙂

empty feeder

Now, the larger birds come and go, especially the migratory birds, but the sparrows and others generally stay year around… do have an occasional bird but for the most part there is not a bird to be found, it’s quiet enough to hear a pin drop… that is not normal… 🙂 …

There are two changes to the path I do have some control “For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.” (John F. Kennedy)

The first being driving… the ole auto has been a part of the family for near 19 years…

auto

But like all else, the auto’s time clock is winding down…. over time I have done research and considered my options… environmental, economical, possible future health issues, etc and found no justification to continue driving…soooooooooo, after 59 years, in the near future will bring a part of history to a close… “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” (Dr. Seuss).. 🙂

Another change taking place is technology.. “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom”. (Isaac Asimov).. it seems that Microsoft will no longer support Windows 7 starting the middle of January 2020, sooooooooo I either go the way of the dinosaur or change… unlike others, change I will.. “The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no man has ever been before.” (Francis Phillip Wernig ).. 🙂

The new laptop…

laptop

Will spend the next few months getting the laptop up and running..will be able to use the other technology to some degree, just will be unable to venture online with the old technology…

Just a few of the changes here on the path… “Everyday on the path least traveled brings change, that change presents a new challenge, mentally and physically… as to how to accept it and deal with it, determines what I am to become, generates an excitement about living a second of time and looking forward to what the next second of time brings, a day filled with adventure and mystery.” ( Larry “Dutch” Woller )

Change is possible but only if you want to.. 🙂

Well, better close for now.. thought I would share a few thoughts before venturing down the path… but I will return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise.. 🙂

Change can be a challenge, difficult at times but here on the path there is a dream… “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly.” (Langston Hughes)

The change is rapidly approaching
As I contemplate the tomorrow,
Leaving some memories filled with happiness
A few memories filled with sorrow.

I peer out my window
Parts of the world, cold and bleak,
A world of conflict, anger and hate
Mortals are suffering as I speak.

But we have a dream
Martin Luther King and I,
That one day there will be peace
No more mortals will die.

And there will be hope
Of a world filled with love one day,
A wish that could come true
For hope is the last to die…they say.

Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice…you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.

So I peer out the window
Not with sadness or a tear,
But a heart filled with hope and a dream
Of a world of love and peace, not hate and fear.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)

What I am
Who I want to be
Am I just a stranger in this dinosaur world,
or my is existence limited to rest ,eat and pee.

Every day is a new day ,
I try to discover myself,
The identity crisis lulls over me,
In calm, yet monstrous glee,
Failing to find what exactly constitutes my being.

One day I want to be a doctor,
Other day an engineer,
Or even a scientist,
The society decides my ambition,
What career to pursue is guided by secure future norms,
They say I have a lunatics mind,
Persuade my mother to put some sense into me.

Enough is said,
I my setting on a journey of my own,
The mistakes I make shall be mine,
The regrets shall be my defined,
Its fall or rise,
Time will play a key role,

As Frost said,
I have an option of two paths ahead of me,
One pre decided by my ancestors,
less risky and challenging,
Other of my own,
I decide to take the less traveled one,
To mark on journey of my own.

Then those dormant forces, faculties and talents inside you become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” Patanjali “

Hello Diary,

It is a quiet, peaceful, pleasant Saturday morning…

quiet Sat morn

A lovely morning, with a touch of fall in the air… a morning to “stop the world and get off” (after a busy week of making changes) to contemplate the tomorrows with a spot of tea… “I used to have all these plans and think ‘Ah, I have my whole life figured out’, but then I realized no matter how much I plan: life happens! So I find myself living day to day trying to do my best, embracing every moment as a learning opportunity and chance to get to know myself a little more.” Q’orianka Kilcher

Earlier in the darkness I ventured out to gather data from my weather instruments, as I do every morning, and this morning when I turned the corner “VOILA” there were Spidey, in it’s den, waiting for some unsuspecting creature to enter…. 🙂

spidey at night

Fortunately I were watching for the webs and had my flashlight on or I would have walked into the web… the web was approximately 4 feet (1.2 meters) in width… as it were, I said good morning and took another path and Spidey and I passed each other like two ships in the night… 🙂 I ventured out after sunrise and the web were gone, but Spidey will be baaaaaaaaaack… 🙂

Yes, there are changes being made here on the path and in some manner will help the environment and in turn help my friends and others and hopefully will help make the world a better place… “I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” Stephen Grellet

Why would I do that one would ask?.. Because that’s what friends do… “When a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy the friend by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it.” (Author Uhnknown)…

Soooooooooo, I shall continue on down the path being who, and what, I am and doing it my way, looking for the moment in time… 🙂

It is down the path least traveled I shall go
To a rainbow filled horizon I venture,
To seek, to learn, know peace, to enjoy life
A path filled with wonderful adventure.

A place where one is accepted as who they are
A spirit kindred to life, when mortal born,
A being coming from the depths within
And not subject to ridicule and scorn.

A place where I know freedom of thought and being
I am what I am, don’t you see,
Neither this one, neither that one, but all the above
In a mortal world, a free spirit, that’s me.

I do not travel the path alone, you see
There are memories and spirits to behold,
Those that share… the joy and sadness
As I gather more memories, down that least traveled road.

So how long will my journey be, one would ask
Will I see the end of the path…ever?
The answer, I believe, lies on the horizon
Somewhere past… the 12th of Never….

So I shall bring my ramblings to an end
For there is one fact that I do know,
To reach the horizon, the 12th of Never
It’s down the path least traveled I must go!
(penned by Larry “Dutch” Woller )

And that being said, will close for now as there are more changes in the winds, more adventures to live as I venture down the path… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Yes, venturing down the path is like drifting down a river… 🙂

But like love it does not die…

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamonds glints in the snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaking in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand by my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die

Hello Diary,

It is a Thursday, have been busy preparing for the winter doldrums, daily activities and enjoying life for a time… all is quiet outdoors, the ground feeder, once a busy community now lies still as most of my backyard friends have left to find the destiny that Fate has waiting for them, to follow their dreams.. “All one can do is know happiness by following ones dreams, being led by one’s heart, and it is up to the rest of the world to accept or not” (Author Unknown)..

The House Wrens nest now lies empty of life but filled with memories.. perhaps one day the
Wren family will return…“A home that is built with patience, understanding and love will withstand the strongest winds of difficulties and conflict , a home built with a closed mind, insincerity and haste will collapse in a mere breeze of discontent.” (Larry “Dutch” Woller )

The backyard gardens that furnished a home for a multitude of backyard friends, now quietly preparing for the winter doldrums… “There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stopped the story.” ― Frank Herbert

And finally, there were a Ash tree on this place in the backyard but it developed a disease and had to be removed… however, like the free dandelion seed, a adventuresome maple seed, with the will to live life, decided to call the place home… “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” ( Maria Robinson )… 🙂

Will to Live
I think of all things that show a zest
For life, the dandelion beats the rest.
The little winged seeds from its white fluff ball
Settle and grow with no urging at all.
Settle in most unlikely places
And soon there’s a crop of dandelion faces.

They are man’s worst pest, but a child’s playthings.
Sometimes I wish I had light down wings
Like a dandelion seed, and could settle at will
On a velvety lawn or a sun-spread hill,
And live with the eagerness and zest
Of the wanton little dandelion pest.
-MARY TRIPLETT

May not be quite as free as the little dandelion seed or little maple seed, but definitely living life and doing it our way… “Confidence is knowing who you are and not changing it a bit because of someone’s version of reality is not your reality.” Shannon L. Alder

And with that I had better close for now… prepare for tomorrow’s adventures, check out some rainbows…but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Yes, my backyard friends, it is that time of the season for departures, but “we’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when” (Vera Lynn)… until then, it is time to say goodbye…

Nature’s change is starting here on the path, some leaves on the ground.. Like us mortal’s lives, change is the law.. “For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.” John F. Kennedy

leaves

Golden, crisp leaves falling softly from almost bare trees,
Lifting and falling in a hushed gentle breeze.
Slowly dropping to the soft cushioned ground,
Whispering and rustling a soothing sound.

Coppers, golds, and rusted tones,
Mother Nature’s way of letting go.
They fall and gather one by one,
Autumn is here, summer has gone.

Crunching as I walk through their warm, fiery glow,
Nature’s carpet rich and pure that again shall grow.
To protect and shield its majestic tree,
Standing tall and strong for the world to see.

They rise and fall in the cool, crisp air.
It’s a time of change in this world we share,
Nature’s importance reflecting our own lives,
Letting go of our fears and again, too, we shall thrive.
(Edel T. Copeland )
A good time perhaps to contemplate the future and what tomorrow may bring..alas, only time has the answer… 🙂

Hello Diary,

It’s a Friday… have been off the radar for a few days, internet provider had a major melt down…but I am baaaaaack!!.. (is that groaning I hear??… )… yes, there are changes taking place in nature’s world here on the path… for one, the birds have started their journey south so all is quiet here save for those that have decided to stay… home is where the heart is they say… 🙂 the flowers have finished their blooms and preparing for winter… the last blooms of the rose.. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” ― Dr. Seuss

There is also a change in the weather pattern and now warm and dry, cracks starting to appear..

And to aid in trying to predict climate and dealing with change, I have been transcribing old weather documents… “Any piece of knowledge I acquire today has a value at this moment exactly proportioned to my skill to deal with it. Tomorrow, when I know more, I will recall that piece of knowledge and use it better. “ Mark van Doren

And the squirrels have been busy preparing for change and the future also (with a little help from me… 🙂 ) …

squirrels winter

Some thoughts about the activities….. 🙂

I set here with my coffee
And watch the leaves a fallin’
It’s becoming clear that one day soon
Jack Frost will come a callin’

Most of my bird friends have went south
In the southern warmth they’ll stay
But I’ll not shed a tear in sorrow
For they’ll be back again some day

All us creatures that are staying behind
To deal with the cold and snow
Are getting our house in order
And waiting for winter’s blow

The squirrels are gathering leaves and such
To insulate their winters nest
The possum is checking every nook and cranny
To find a place for his winters rest

The bee’s are picking up the pace
Gathering nectar with the morning sun
Storing winter food for the hive
Before their work on earth is done

A spider spinning it’s web of silk
I watched as it grew and grew
Soon to become natures work of art
With tomorrow’s early morning dew

This poem could go on and on and on
But alas, I have things to do
For, like it or not, don’t you see
I need to get ready for winter too.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller )

And with that being said, it is time for me to close and venture on down the path, but I shall return one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

You know “When a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy the friend by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it.” (Author Unknown) and here on the path we don’t build walls, we build bridges… 🙂

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road your trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victors cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit!

Hello Diary,

It is a Thursday and nearing the end of a pleasant week… took advantage of the weather to venture out into the gardens and backyard for a time.. the future promises to be hot and dry weather, the other side of the coin as to the weather of the past… but woke up to a pleasant day today… 🙂
Oh, what a beautiful mornin’
Oh, what a beautiful day
I’ve got a wonderful feelin’
Everything’s goin’ my way (James Taylor)

horizon

The tree line on the horizon is 6 miles ( 9.5 KM ) away… I were not the only creature on the path enjoying the day… observed Mother cardinal protecting her babies in the nest the cardinal family put in the hanging pot… “ The love a mother has for her children is legendary, it is said a child is the mother’s heart outside her body.” (Author Unknown)

card2

Also managed to get a photo of the Father cardinal keeping a close eye on his family from a nearby bush…. “You don’t love the person you can live with, you love the person you cannot live without”… (Author Unknow)..

card 3

I also noticed the little house sparrows were taking advantage of the weather and decided to have a “pool party”.. 🙂 “Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown)…

sparrow pool party

Ventured out to check my weather instruments this morning a spied a Monarch butterfly waiting for the sun to warm its wings so it can continue to follow its dreams… “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly.” Langston Hughes

monarch

Later in the day I saw a little House Wren setting on a line… no doubt preparing to take its family south for the winter and new adventures… “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover, acquire new friends and gain knowledge of yourself and the world.” Samual Clemens aka Mark Twain

Yes, everyday is a new adventure for everyone here on the path, including me… “Everyday on the path least traveled brings change, that change presents a new challenge, mentally and physically… as to how to accept it and deal with it, determines what I am to become, generates an excitement about living a second of time and looking forward to what the next second of time brings, a day filled with adventure and mystery.” (Larry “Dutch” Woller )

And speaking of adventure, I had better close for now..new adventures on the horizon calling…but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Yes, here on the path, following ones dreams with a open mind being led by the heart.. “I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief” (Gerry Spence).. It is a wonderful life indeed… 🙂

“ Love is a beautiful journey, where every step is a destination and every moment an eternity” (Apoorve Duby) and “Remember this, a kiss may not be the truth, but it is what we wish were true” (L.A. Story on the path least traveled…

Unlike the rest of the world, here on the path it is all about love today, and every day… 🙂

It’s evening here, all is serene
Waiting for the sandman, my love,
Thoughts of you fill my mind and heart
While gazing at stars above.

Trying to find the elusive words
That will allow this mortal to say,
In a thousand ways that I Love You
And will always do so, each and every day.

Thoughts of you are in my mind
My spirit, yea my very heart,
Can’t find all the words I’m looking for
Don’t even know where to start.

So this will have to do, my love
For now it’s the best I can do,
To tell you from the bottom of my heart
How much that I love you!

A love that is without end
Through an eternity it will endure,
A love so wonderfully right
Beautiful and pure.

And know this, my beloved
As I did, from the very start,
Your love will be locked forever
Inside this country boys heart!

Hello Diary,

It is a Friday, a pleasant weekend on the horizon…with work done, a good weekend to visit friends with a bottle of wine…. but for now it is today (as with every day) and i it is about love…“You don’t love the person you can live with, you love the person you cannot live without” (Author Unknown) …. even my twin great-granddaughters Kayla and Mackenzie agree… 🙂

Kayla & Mackenzie

“Love is the expansion of two natures in such fashion that each include the other, each is enriched by the other.” (Felix Adler).. And here on the path love is everywhere… 🙂

boy and girl

In all things…“Loving someone is giving them the power to break your heart, but trusting them not to.” (Julianne Moore)

dancing couple

To Love you is to daydream of you often, think of you so much, to speak of you proudly, and miss you terribly when we are apart.
To Love you is to cherish the warmth of your arms, the sweetness of your kiss, the friendliness of your smile, the loving sound in your voice, and the happiness we share……
To Love you is to never forget the adversity we have overcome, the tears we have shed, the plans we have made, the problems we have solved, and the pain of separation.
To Love you is to remember joyfully the days we made memorable, the moments that will live forever in our hearts,
The dreams we hope for, the caress and touches of love, and the exhilaration of love that fills our hearts.
To Love you is to need you, want you, hold you, and know you as no one else can.
To Love you is to realize that life without you would be no life at all……..
(Author Unknown)

Love knows no race, gender, ideology, distance or boundary, for it lies in the heart with hope.. “The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.” (Audrey Hepburn)…

As with all creatures, even little Bree and Miss Daisy ( they have passed on a few years ago) knew and felt love as they become family…

He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
My other ears that hear above the winds.
He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another person.
With him, I am all-powerful.
He is loyalty itself.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion.
With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.
He has brought me understanding
where before I was ignorant.
His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against
my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me…
whenever…wherever–in case I need him.
And I expect I will–as I always have.
He is just my dog.

Cannot forget the lovebirds… Ewwwwwwwwwww, get a room… 🙂

lovebirds

Never say I love you
If you really don’t care,
Never talk about feelings
If they really aren’t there

Never hold my hand
If your going to break my heart
Never say your are going to
If you don’t plan to start

Never look into my eyes
If all you do is lie
Never say hello
If you really mean goodbye

If you really mean forever
Then say that you will try
Never say forever
Cause forever makes me cry
(Virginia Weathers)

Well, better close for now… thought I would share some of the love found here on the path, more where they come from… more adventures on down the path… “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last chapter.” (Author Unknown )… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…

Remember, “I can’t tell you who you are or who you will be, I can only love you and be your friend” (Adam Clarke)….. and irregardless of the negative thoughts and what others may say, be just YOU, as you are, because you are caring, loving and beautiful in your own way, as it were meant to be…

While preparing for the weekend heat wave, were thinking about others in the world that could use a bit of support, showing that someone cares, they are not alone…if nothing more than a kind word giving them hope… “When a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy the friend by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it.” (Author Unknown)..

HOPE IS

Hope is a feather floating in a bright blue sky
Hope is that sparkle that shines in your eyes.
Hope is a butterfly fluttering on the wind
Hope is good times spent with family and friends.

Hope is a newborn baby’s cry
Hope is a Mother’s lullaby.
Hope is the rainbow after a rain
Hope is the harvest of golden grain.

Hope is the light that keeps darkness at bay
Hope is the breeze on a hot summer day.
Hope is ever present and free of cost
Hope is the last thing ever lost.

Hope is staying positive when the going gets tough
Hope is seeking help when you feel you’ve had enough.
Hope is recovery from simmering sorrow
Hope is believing in a brighter tomorrow.

And I believe that if everyone would give a little, a few would not have to give a lots… we are all a unique and precious piece of the worlds puzzle and as one there is nothing we cannot accomplish…. for we are the world…

Until we meet again…

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
May flowers always line your path
and sunshine light your way,
May songbirds serenade your
every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
May the dreams you hold dearest
Be those which come true
May the kindness you spread
Keep returning to you

It is the 4th of July and as I quietly gaze upon the gardens..

water garden 1

I venture down memory lane thankful for living my life my way… 🙂

A time to contemplate the past
A time to give thanks…they say,
To relive treasured memories
Of each and every passing day.

Thanks for letting me feel love
Be it joy, or be it heartache,
To know someone’s love
A treasured feeling their love did make.

Thanks for letting me live life
To explore, to follow one’s dream,
To seek out and live every adventure
Not enough time in the day… it did seem.

Thanks for letting me meet friends
To share thoughts of love, hope..perhaps a tear,
And by going down the path together in friendship
Doing away with hate, anger….and fear.

Thanks for giving me the courage
To follow my own path…to be me,
To not follow someone else’s path
To live my own….. reality.

Thanks for giving me an open mind
As I venture down the path… allowing me,
To gaze upon life’s treasures, large and small
That many others do not see.

Thanks for giving me an open heart
Able to love, understand and forgive,
And when I grow too old to dream
A place where my memories will live.

Yes, I have much to be thankful for
And every day the list gets longer… you see,
As I venture down the path least traveled
Searching for what destiny… has waiting for me.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, those were the days…

Hello Diary,

Yes, it is the 4th of July but no fireworks, parades or parties here, just me and a bottle of wine..

me, wine, beret

Quietly reminiscing and browsing memories, and also contemplating the future….

I was not a king or president,
No powers did I hold,
I wasn’t a preacher or a pope,
No sermon for the fold.

So tell me , fate
You hold the key,
What is my destiny
Suppose to be?

I helped construct the IMPE building Champaign, Illinois during my years on construction..

IMPE building

Can no longer build cities
The back is tired and sore,
I was a soldier once
No longer have the heart for war.

Vietnam, 12th Marine Regiment 1965-1966..

medals

I’ve tilled the soil as a farmer
Fed the world is what they say,
But I see the faces of hunger
Still this very day.

This stalk of corn came from one of our fields, I am standing between my Dad and sister…

cornstalk

I’ve donated time and money
Ask for nothing in return,
I see nothing has changed
Will they ever learn?

I am a sustaining donor to the Foodbank..

foodbank 2

I’ve tilled the fields and went to war
Built cities and bridges and much more,
Has my destiny run it’s course
Fate, is there any more?

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” (Abraham Lincoln )

Well, I had better close for now…have quiet day of celebrating the freedom of living life.. …“Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.” (Kevyn Aucoin).. but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…. 🙂

Yes, I may have to make and small adjustment from time to time, but I follow my dreams with a open mind and led by the heart.. Diary, never let go of your dreams “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly.” (Langston Hughes) and should doubt enter your mind remember “The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible.” – (Joel Brown)….

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” ( Dr. Seuss) on the path least traveled…

It were a quiet Thursday morning I woke up to…

a quiet morning

A Quiet Morning…

A quiet morning to wake up to
Sitting, gazing out, with a spot of tea,
Contemplating my tomorrows
Wondering, what will the future be.

A quiet morning, a open mind
Thinking about the path, its mysteries many fold,
Each to explore and treasure
Soon a treasured memory to behold.

A quiet morning, a open heart
Another day to learn and explore about me.
It is my life.. only get one chance
Will have to do it my way.. don’t you see.

A quiet morning, being different
Reminding me of words from a song,
Where do I fit in, one asks
One wonders, where do I belong.

A quiet morning, on the path
At the end of it, on the horizon, a lovely rainbow,
It is there my answers lie… the truth is known
Until then, only Fate will know.

A quiet morning, spirit and mind at the ready
To seek the rainbow… perhaps around the next bend,
Once found, I’ll have my answers, you see
And that will be the beginning, not the end.

Hello Diary,

Have been a busy week, dealing with the weather while following dreams, chores, working on projects and preparing for the coming heat wave starting tomorrow, Friday, through the weekend… but, will not raise the “white flag” “If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right” (Mary Kay Ash) ….. 🙂

me with floppy hat

Flowerdy floppy hat, check!… working glasses, check!… working gloves, check!.. Banana
Boat sunscreen, check!.. sunshine, check!.. HI HO HI HO it’s out to the gardens we go!.. 🙂

Weeder’s Thoughts…..

I have raked the soil and planted the seeds
Now I’ve joined the army that fights the weeds.
For me no flashing saber and sword,
To battle the swiftly marching horde;

With a valiant heart I fight the foe,
My only weapon a trusty hoe.
No martial music to swing me along,
I march to the robin redbreast song.

No stirring anthem of bugle and drum
But the cricket’s chirp and the honey bee’s hum.
No anti-aircraft or siren yell
But there’s Trumpet-creeper and Lily-bell.

With a loving heart and a sturdy hand,
I defend the borders of flower-land;
While high over Larkspur and Leopardsbane,
A butterfly pilots his tiny plane;

But I shall not fear his skillful hand,
My enemy charges only by land.
Would those who lead nations in war and hate
But lay down their guns at some garden gate,
There, bury- their bombs and their bloody deeds,
And join the grand army that’s fighting the weeds.
(Alma B. Eymann )

Diary, the last time I visited I posted some photos of a spider web taken recently.. here are two photos I took last year of spider webs… these are not, repeat NOT, Halloween decorations.. 🙂 .. The first is a web from house to auto… roughly measuring 6 feet (1.8m) in diameter..

Here is a photo at night with spider.. web 4 feet (1.2m) in diameter, spider approximately 3 inches (76.2mm) in diameter…

As far as the heat wave is concerned, have a bottle of wine and my entire library (1000+ books) downloaded on the Kindle Fire…mystery, romance… wine and fire, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… 🙂

wine and fire

Well, I had better close for now… finish up a few things and then ready for the heat, not to mention dreams, rainbows and whatever else lies around the next bend on the path… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise….

Until we meet again;

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you
In the palm of his hand..
(Irish Saying)

Goodnight, goodnight, until we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn ’til then
And though it’s always sweet sorrow to part
You know you’ll always remain in my heart
Goodnight, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you
Here’s a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now ’til we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn
GOOD NIGHT
