Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
Hello Diary…
Have been very busy here preparing for the new year but thought I would take a moment to share a bit of what I have been doing and a few thoughts…
With it being winter outdoors, taking the time to prepare the indoors for the adventures ahead… 🙂
Also working with technology in the house to conserve energy, deal with climate change and help the environment, and updating technology to help me better understand the universe and work with others to make this world a better world so one day peace and understanding will reign supreme and we, the world over, can follow and share our dreams, especially those generations that will follow me.. 🙂
As I am adjusting the sails here on the path, I have not forgotten others here ( and the world) who may need some help following their dreams.. 🙂
And I haven’t forgotten my backyard friends and those that may visit while following their destiny… 🙂
All of this is part of my search for the answer I seek.. 🙂
And with that being said, to find my answers I must leave safe harbor and down my path I shall venture.. 🙂
It Is Down The Path Least Traveled I Shall Go..
It is down the path least traveled I shall go
To a rainbow filled horizon I venture,
To seek, to learn, know peace, to enjoy life
A path filled with wonderful adventure.
A place where one is accepted as who they are
A spirit kindled to life, when mortal born,
A being coming from the depths within
And not subject to ridicule and scorn.
A place where I know freedom of thought and being
I am what I am, don’t you see,
Neither this one, neither that one, but all the above
In a mortal world, a free spirit, that’s me.
I do not travel the path alone, you see
There are memories and spirits to behold,
Those that share... the joy and sadness
As I gather more memories, down that least traveled road.
So how long will my journey be, one would ask
Will I see the end of the path...ever?
The answer, I believe, lies on the horizon
Somewhere past... the 12th of Never….
So I shall bring my ramblings to an end
For there is one fact that I do know,
To reach the horizon, the 12th of Never
It’s down the path least traveled I must go!
( Larry “Dutch” Woller )
And even though the skies may be a bit gloomy and the waters a bit choppy from time to time, I shall press on knowing that tomorrow will be a better day so long as I follow my heart… 🙂
Well, I had better close for now, life and the path is calling.. not sure what lies ahead and it may the end of the month before I return, but return I shall, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂
Hope the path/trail you have chosen is paved with peace, love and happiness, you are able to follow your dreams being who you are and wish to be and until we meet again… 🙂
May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
Life Is Now….
Time flies, and memories fade.
People change and new friendships are made.
Only the true remain forever at our side.
Eventually the disappointment and pain will subside.
It is all about the journey and what has yet to come.
Life is what you make of it; you are what you've become.
Life is too short to hold onto regrets.
Forgiveness is key even though you may never forget.
Cherish the good and remove the bad.
Some people don't realize till it's gone what they've had.
Moving on is a way of life.
There will always be obstacles, pain, and strife.
You must believe that you are strong enough to fight.
You have to believe in yourself to do what is right.
Always do for YOU no matter what you do,
Because in the end the only one who has your back is you.
Never be afraid to take a stand,
And always be willing to lend a helping hand.
A little bit goes a long way.
All it takes is a smile to brighten someone's day.
Your chance to live is now, so what are you waiting for?
The world is yours for the taking and so much more.
Endless possibilities are forever at your disposal.
The chance to live another day is life's golden proposal.
Never let anyone tear you down,
And never let anyone steal your shine and make you frown.
So will you sit in the shadows and let darkness win again?
Or will you rise up and make the light your friend?
(Hollianne Boucher)
“It is not easy to find happiness within ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.” (Agnes Repplier ), so in spite of life’s challenges, follow your heart and do it your way, you won’t go wrong… 🙂
Hello Diary…
The New Year has arrived and I will be quite busy for the next two weeks or so, preparing for the future, appointments, etc., so while I may pop in from time to time, I shall be off the radar, hopefully to return before the end of the month… before I go, I thought I would briefly share a few thoughts and a dream I had in history’s past…. 🙂
In history’s past, on the path, I had a dream
Of a world in harmony it did seem,
Accepting one as to who they believe and are
One’s life’s choices no one did bar.
Free to climb a mountain, to touch a star
Free to search the universe, where answers are,
Free to venture through life, with open mind
Another’s belief, it did not blind.
Free to boldly walk the lands, both far and near
To lives one’s life without suffering or fear,
Not to be accepted by belief, gender or race, you see
But by the love, understanding and knowledge of a spirit born free.
Children could follow their own dream, you see
Not to be denied by another’s ideology,
To follow the destiny of their own choice
Not to be hindered by another’s voice.
I still have that dream, you know
A dream that began a long time ago,
A dream without end, each and every day
Until the four winds, they all blow away.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Whatever your dream may be we will share them together and they will come true because we follow Mr. Bennett’s advice “Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” (Roy T. Bennett )… 🙂
Winds of Change…
I watched that heavy door begin to close,
all the while the winds above me rose.
The years whisper and whistle back into my ear,
the memories haunted by sorrows and fear.
With a new day it finally dawned on me,
the past needed locking and I had the key.
Leave it behind, leap and fly away free,
let the winds of change blow and carry me.
Feel them lifting my wings now able to soar,
up to an open sky and caged no more.
Flying so fast to where no hurt can find,
a place of peace now inhabits my mind.
This heart full of courage never ceases to beat,
knowing my history is not destined to repeat.
Clear paths now lead me to a new destination,
for my life, my future and the next generation.
(Kelly Deschler )
So I may only be here in spirit for a few days, but together we will follow our dreams, deal with change and in some way, no matter how small it may seem, help make this world a better place, the way old friends do… 🙂
So, I will close for now, prepare to start tomorrows adventure (and the sweeper waits for me...sigh…), but I shall return again one day, with new memories and adventures, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise.. 🙂
And no matter what challenges life may put before you, your heart will get you through the storms “I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship.” (Louisa May Alcott) and until we meet again…. 🙂
Not just another day, dear friend
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing this day together.
So, have a wonderful day, dear friend
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, AND your heart
Be filled…...with love and happiness.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Lyrics;
Goodnight, goodnight, until we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn 'til then
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
You know you'll always remain in my heart
Goodnight, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn
GOOD NIGHT!
Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
A peaceful morning, watching the sun arise
Thoughts abound, while sipping on a spot of tea,
While taking in Nature’s outdoor portrait
Contemplating, on what Fate may have instore for me.
Change is slowly coming, it whispers in the winds
The door is slowly closing on past history,
With a new awakening with the mind and spirit
But the future is still shrouded in mystery.
With the freedom of being different, in many ways
No social shackles do this mortal wear,
Do welcome change with open mind and spirit
No fear, no worry or dread do I bear.
Does change stop at mortal death, one wonders
Or does it go on forever and ever,
Will I ask the same at another time and place
Somewhere past the 12th of Never?
Will thought and spirit continue
When, as in all things, my mortal time comes to an end,
Or does all things cease to be, when
To the grave, the mortal body Fate does send.
Alas, but must deal with the present
So now will store thoughts and musings yet to be told,
For it’s down the path least traveled I do venture
To search and hopefully find….what life, and Fate, may behold.
( Larry “Dutch” Woller )
Spirit and mind at the ready, to seek the rainbow… perhaps around the next bend, once found, I’ll have my answers, you see, and that will be the beginning, not the end (Larry “Dutch” Woller)… 🙂
Hello Diary,
Yes, the new year has arrived.. like many, if not everyone, spent New Year’s Day browsing the pages of memories of new years past, especially memories of those who were a part of my life but have since passed on to their destiny… there was Kathy (my wife, friend, partner) who left in the spring of 2015, there was my Mom who left in the fall of 2015, my Dad, family and friends who left in years past… 🙂
And, of course, there are those precious creatures who started out as pets but soon became family… there was Miss Daisy, a Jack Russell and Kathy’s BFF, coach potato and top of the pecking order, left this world in 2014… 🙂
And my shadow were little Bree, Jack Russell, free spirit, left no stone unturned, every day were a new adventure, left this world in 2016… 🙂
And when sadness starts to make it’s presence known, then and now, I shed few tears as I “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” (Dr. Seuss) as the words of Merrit Malloy came to mind ( I hope when my time comes it will be my epitaph)… 🙂
When I die
Give what's left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.
I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I've known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
And not on your mind.
You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting
Bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.
Love doesn't die,
People do.
So, when all that's left of me
Is love,
Give me away.
(Epitaph, Merrit Malloy)
Also the words of Gene Hill ( it is about a dog but in one’s mind, one can temporarily replace the word dog with whatever word one wishes).. 🙂
He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
My other ears that hear above the winds.
He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.
He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being:
By the way he rests against my leg
By the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile
By the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.
(I think it makes him sick with worry when he
is not along to care for me.)
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another person. ,With him, I am all-powerful.
He is loyalty itself., He has taught me the meaning of devotion.
With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.
He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.
His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against, my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me…, whenever...wherever--in case I need him.
And I expect I will--as I always have.
He is just my dog.
(Author Gene Hill…)
And though I am not into religion or faith based ideologies, believe the words by David M. Romano has a place also… 🙂
And as I venture down the path least traveled, I do not walk alone for with a heart filled with memories of family and friends, the heart will go on… 🙂
And with the new year, for now it is time to put those memories back in that special place in my heart for when I grow too old to dream and time to say goodbye… 🙂
Well, I shall bring my ramblings and the book of memories to a close, time to set sail, leave safe harbor and venture down the path filled with new adventures see what destiny has waiting for me… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂
Hope your new year and path of life is filled and paved with love and happiness, your heart filled with fond memories and until we meet again… 🙂
May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
Hello Diary,
The year is nearly over and even though life occasionally put some storms in my path “I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship.” (Louisa May Alcott)… 🙂
I have no regrets for I followed my heart and for the most part did it my way even though I may have had to adjust the sails from time to time… I do not complain for there are those who have had life worse than I so I just put a band-aid on my wounds and venture on down the path “Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them.” (Louisa May Alcott)… 🙂
Change in many forms, are coming and by working together we can make this world a better place even though we may be different, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” (Barack Obama ) … so I wake up every morning with a open mind and a heart full of hope, dreams, understanding and love and follow my heart… 🙂
There is much we can do and what we do may seem small at first glance, but “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” ( Mother Teresa) … and there may be times when we feel like we are doing it alone, but together we can make a difference and make 2023 a better year and the world a better world for everyone.. “We may not have it all together but together we have it all” (Author Unknown)… 🙂
The new year is rapidly approaching
As I contemplate the tomorrow,
Leaving with some memories filled with happiness
A few memories filled with sorrow.
As I peer out my window
Parts of the world, cold and bleak,
A world of conflict, anger and hate
Mortals are suffering as I speak.
But we have a dream
My friends and I,
That one day there will be peace
No more mortals will die.
And there will be hope
Of a world filled with love one day,
A wish that could come true
For hope is the last to die…they say.
Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice...you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
Of what or who they wish to be.
So I peer out the window
Not with sadness or a tear,
But a heart filled with hope and a dream
Of a world of love and peace, not hate and fear.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
And by sharing and working together, with respect and understanding for another we can make the world in 2023 a wonderful world indeed!!… 🙂
And here on the path we can continue to follow our dream filled with hope because “The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible.” ( Joel Brown)… 🙂
HOPE IS
Hope is a feather floating in a bright blue sky
Hope is that sparkle that shines in your eyes.
Hope is a butterfly fluttering on the wind
Hope is good times spent with family and friends.
Hope is a newborn baby’s cry
Hope is a Mother’s lullaby.
Hope is the rainbow after a rain
Hope is the harvest of golden grain.
Hope is the light that keeps darkness at bay
Hope is the breeze on a hot summer day.
Hope is ever present and free of cost
Hope is the last thing ever lost.
Hope is staying positive when the going gets tough
Hope is seeking help when you feel you’ve had enough.
Hope is recovery from simmering sorrow
Hope is believing in a brighter tomorrow.
(Linda Hotger)
Well, I had better close for now, getting ready for the New Year and the challenges and adventures it may bring, a year filled with hope and dreams, I may be off the radar from time to time the next couple of weeks while preparing for the new year, but I shall return again one day, Fate willin’ and the creeks don’t rise.. 🙂
Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Thoughts from the heart
I’m sending to you.
Not just another day, my friend
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing this day together.
So, have a wonderful day, my friend
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, AND your heart
Be filled…...with love and happiness.

Hello Diary…
Christmas day is nearing, along with a winter storm…. Santa’s helpers work are done (though will continue the spirit of giving) and ready for a relaxing holiday with some holiday cheer, the ole Kindle and a holiday song… taking a moment to wish everyone, those who stop by the path and even those who haven’t, a safe and wonderous holiday (whether you observe or not), and life is all that you wish for it to be… 🙂
“Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown)… and if only spirit, we will share it together.. 🙂
As Christmas approaches
One contemplates not the day,
But all the years of memories and thoughts
That one acquired along the way.
Memories filled with sadness, sorrow perhaps
Memories with happiness, joy and cheer
Memories to bring out the laughter
Memories to bring out a tear.
A special day and one to treasure, my friend
And not because of the calendar age,
Because to life’s book of memories and thoughts
We will be adding another page!
Even though a distance and time apart
It will be a day that we will share,
Our spirit knows no time or distance
Be assured, my friend, I will be there!
It will become our memory, and we will share
The holidays, and every day…... forever,
Because of our spirit eternal
Beyond…………. the 12th of Never!!
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
I do save the cards… 🙂
I shall close for now with a HO HO HO, a heart and home filled with memories, getting ready to enjoy the holiday, plenty of biscuits this year, but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂
Hope you have the mostest wonderfulest happiest holiday (and every day) ever, filled with peace, joy, love and goodwill and until we meet again… 🙂
It is a special time and one to treasure
And not because of the calendar age,
Because to the book of fond memories
i will be adding another page
The tree is trimmed, not as many lights this year
The presents are fewer, but tis the thought that counts,
Maybe not as plentiful, but food being prepared
As the holidays draw near and excitement mounts!
The spirit is in the air, the weather not to matter
And I am caught up in the spirit, I must confess,
So white or no, Happy Holidays to ALL!
And may your life be filled…. with love and happiness!!
( Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
Yes, it is the season for the spirit of giving and though I have the spirit of giving year around, it is especially during the holidays… not a great deal of funds but helping others give one of the best gifts of all; HOPE..:)
Physically; National Weather Service (USA & United Kingdom) climate change, World Community Grid (mapping cancer)…
Donations; American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals American Institute for Cancer Research Planned Parenthood United We Dream Compassion and Choices Habitat for Humanity DSC Tree of Hope E.I Foodbank Salvation Army And others…
I can only wonder what a wonderful world this would be if everyone that could, would give a little in some form..for someone, be a bridge over troubled waters… 🙂
Hello Diary,
The holiday is not only about giving but also about being together as family and friends, to share precious moments that will become memories for a lifetime and beyond… a time to venture down memory lane of holidays past… one memory had to deal with my brother and I’s train set, much like the one in the photo… 🙂
And as I have said, growing up on the farm when I were a child were different than today’s world, for one thing it were cash only in those days and what few presents us kids (my sister, my brother and me) would get were bits of clothing perhaps a coloring book.. IF, we had a good year on the farm, perhaps my brother and I would each get a car for our train set… 😉
My brother and I shared one bedroom, directly above my Mom and Dad’s bedroom and I will have my thoughts that rhyme tell the rest of the story… 🙂
Christmas is near
And as I look around,
Checked every package under the tree
No toys for me were found.
But I’m not one bit worried
The sadness it won’t last,
Because I have some memories
Of many of Christmas past.
One Christmas eve in particular
For the night my brother and I retired,
It wasn’t long into the night
The imagination was fired.
We had train track all over the floor
Much to Mom’s dismay,
All night long messages back and forth
Wondering about Christmas day.
But in a blink of an eye
All got quiet real quick,
There was a shadow in our door
And it definitely wasn’t ST. Nick!
It’s Christmas morning….wait there’s a honk
And I looked out the window to see,
It was just my neighbor in his car
Bringing me back to reality.
But that’s ok, I haven’t grown old
And I’m not even gonna start,
I’ll be forever young, don’t you see
With Christmas in my heart.
So to all.. and to all
As I get into my sleigh,
WAIT, I can’t say goodnight
It’s the middle of the day!
( Larry “Dutch” Woller )
And when there were a large family gathering for the holiday dinner, the adults at one table and us kids at another, more often than not I found myself in the same circumstances as Jimmy Dean… 🙂
lyrics;
Just picture a lad, between Mom and Dad
Its Sunday the tables all set
There's uncles, there's aunts, and cousins galore
With plenty of food to be et
The blessing is said, they reach for the bread
It's a feast a king could afford
There's clatter, there's chatter, but something's the matter
There's someone who's being ignored
And before I close, I had better pass on some advice I received from a reliable source, Ray Stevens, you girl and boys better be good for Santa Claus is watching you… 🙂 🙂 🙂
And with that I had better close, Christmas is coming, ready or not and Santa’s helpers work is never done...but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…
With a parting glass filled with holiday spirit, may your path be paved with love and happiness, whether you observe the season or not have a wonderful holiday and until we meet again..
May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
Hello Diary,
Taking some time from chasing dreams and dealing with life’s challenges to share a few thoughts about the holiday here on the path.. Yes, the holidays are suppose to be a time of giving but here on the path the giving is every day in some manner, large or small, so the tree of giving never comes down… 🙂
And the holidays are much about being together as families in some form, especially about the children.. And I try to give to help build a better world to give hope to the children that they can follow their dreams though sometimes they can put me to the test as Red Sovine will agree even though their adventures will become fond memories… “You are evidence of your mother’s strength… especially if you are a rebellious knucklehead and regardless, she has always maintained her sanity.” ( Criss Jami)… 🙂
In the song, the word “fussed” means “complain”… 🙂
But, they are little folk like me and you, with feelings and dreams and with the imagination on full speed, leaving no stone unturned, especially during the holidays and I make every effort to give them the gift of hope (every day)… 🙂
The gift of hope
Where children could follow their own dream, you see
Not to be denied by another’s ideology,
To follow the destiny of their own choice
Not to be hindered by another’s voice.
(Latty “Dutch” Woller)
And hopefully pave their path with happiness by giving a gift of love, not prejudice, etc., so they can follow their dream with a open mind and free spirit… 🙂
The gift of love
A world of love that is without end
Through an eternity it will endure,
A love that knows no boundaries
A love beautiful, caring and pure.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
And speaking of children, I had better close for now… with today’s world troubles and conflicts, Santa’s list of children needing some holiday cheer is growing and he needs some help.. and with a HO HO HO it is on down the path I go, but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂
Whether you observe Christmas or not, hope your heart is filled with the spirit of the holiday, your path is paved with hope, love and happiness and until we meet again…
May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
Every day can be the most wonderful time of the year…. 🙂
Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂
It is a time when one ventures down memory lane, to visit memories of long ago and of loved ones that will be missed this holiday, but they will be with us always, living in a special place in our hearts… “Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown)… 🙂
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
Filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things
We didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you,
And each time you think of me
I know you’ll miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me
I’m right there in your heart.
(Alena Hakala Meadows)
And with them in our hearts, they will always be home for the holidays… 🙂
Hello Dairy…
Although the spirit of giving is every day on the path, the holidays are on the horizon.. A time of giving with love.. and hopefully not only for a time of cheer and giving, but also a time of peace, hope, love, understanding and friendship for everyone, that is my dream for the holidays (and every day)… 🙂
In history’s past, on the path, I had a dream
Of a world in harmony it did seem,
Accepting one as to who they believe and are

A dream that began a long time ago,
A dream without end, each and every day
Until the four winds, they all blow away.
(Larry “Dutch” Woller)
The universe knows that I am not into religion (as my late wife’s Chaplain said “ it is what is in the heart that matters, not a name above a door) but I agree with Vince and Jenny Gill…
Well, I had better close… need to prepare for the holidays also, all the while awaiting what adventures lies ahead.. but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise..
Whether you observe the holiday or not, hope the spirit of giving, joy, love and happiness is part of your life and until we meet again…
In the spirit of giving
With love and understanding too
Thoughts from the heart
I’m sending to you.
It is not just another day
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing this day together.
So, have a wonderful day
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,

Hello Diary,
The Thanksgiving holiday is approaching here on the prairie and I plan on having a relaxing holiday, I will not be Black Friday shopping… 🙂
A quiet time contemplating my tomorrows, browsing through the memories, some meditation, a glass of wine, a spot of tea, perhaps visiting friends, the Kindle is full of books so I am ready for a holiday here on the path…should you happen to visit, welcome… 🙂
I give thanks everyday… 🙂
Thanksgiving has arrived
Another year as gone bye,
Been busy chasing dreams
Living life..time did fly,
A time to contemplate the past
A time to give thanks...they say,
To relive treasured memories
Of each and every passing day.
Thanks for letting me feel love
Be it joy, or be it heartache,
To know someone’s love
A treasured feeling their love did make.
Thanks for letting me live life
To explore, to follow one’s dream,
To seek out and live every adventure
Not enough time in the day... it did seem.
Thanks for letting me meet friends
To share thoughts of love, hope..perhaps a tear,
And by going down the path together in friendship
Doing away with hate, anger….and fear.
Thanks for giving me the courage
To follow my own path...to be me,
To not follow someone else’s path
To live my own….. reality.
Thanks for giving me an open mind
As I venture down the path... allowing me,
To gaze upon life’s treasures, large and small
That many others do not see.
Thanks for giving me an open heart
Able to love, understand and forgive,
And when I grow too old to dream
A place where my memories will live.
Yes, I have much to be thankful for
And every day the list gets longer... you see,
As I venture down the path least traveled
Searching for what destiny... has waiting for me.

“Life gives us brief moments with another, but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime, So live that your memories will be part of your happiness.” (Author Unknown)
And I will be doing some giving here on the path also… 🙂
The gift of hope
Where children could follow their own dream, you see
Not to be denied by another’s ideology,
To follow the destiny of their own choice
Not to be hindered by another’s voice.
The gift of understanding
Not a world of race, color or gender
Nor closed minded ridicule or prejudice...you see,
But a world that respects another’s dream
And of what or who they wish to be.
The gift of freedom
One is free to boldly walk the lands, both far and near
To lives one’s life without suffering or fear,
Not to be accepted by belief, gender or race, you see
But by the love, understanding and knowledge of a spirit born free.
The gift of happiness
Not a world of sorrow or fear
But a world of hope and dreams, not sadness
A world of eternal love and peace
A world of eternal happiness.
The gift of love
A world of love that is without end
Through an eternity it will endure,
A love that knows no boundaries
A love beautiful, caring and pure.

Well, I had better close for now, a glass of wine awaits for my approval while venturing down memory lane… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂
Hope your path is paved with love and happiness and until we meet again..
May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road your trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victors cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit!

Hello Diary,
Yes, a life without dreams is a life without purpose indeed and following ones dreams can be difficult at times… I know in the past I have championed listening to one’s heart and following ones dreams and I am not just saying things to hear myself talk… I have witnessed life’s challenges while following my dreams and while the path may not have been smooth and I may have had to adjust my sails, I still followed my heart and dreams…. 🙂
I grew up on a farm here on the prairies in the 1940’s, 1950’s and early 1960’s ( I am standing, my brother is sitting).. 🙂
Having had to deal with two world conflicts, wealth not being what it is today (there were no such thing as credit cards, etc.), knowledge and technology being what it was, we, as a family, did not have a great deal but I had my dreams, and I followed them through the good days and bad, through sickness and health.. Had to deal with polio, measles, smallpox and numerous other diseases… tornadoes, winter storms and other weather events under rather primitive conditions compared today… 🙂
Did not have computers, etc. and our phone looked like this one, had to turn the handle to contact the operator and tell the operator who one wished to talk to, there were no texting… 🙂
The radio looked much like this one, spent most of our time listening to it, Mom who listen to the soap operas on the radio instead of watching… 🙂
Television was a rarity in the prairies and we finally got a tv when I were around 10 years old, it looked like this tv, the screen was about 10 inches square and we could get 3 channels that would come on the air at sunrise and go off the air at sunset… 🙂
I left the farm in the middle 1960’s and joined the USMC… I married the love of my life and with about a year and a half left in my tour, our son came into our life, two days after he were born I received orders to go to Vietnam, he was 3 weeks old when I left and I was a stranger… 🙂
I spent about 13 months in Vietnam where I were shot at and missed, s – – t on and hit but I returned home relatively unscathed and to my son I was still a stranger .. (that is me sitting on the ground).. 🙂
As a family we started to follow our dreams together, our daughter came into our lives to complete our family… 🙂
Together, through the good times and bad, we ventured down the path following our dreams, dealing with issues including the weather, a tornado occurred in 1996, the photo were taken about 2 blocks from our house, fortunately we suffered no severe damage.. 🙂
Knowledge and technology was improving, in 1997 we got on the internet with a dial-up computer with 10 megabytes of memory…. and we got a prototype of the future cell phones, it were called a bag phone, not always dependable and one still could not text.. 🙂
The kids scattered to the winds in search of their destinies, Kathy and I continued on down the path to follow our dreams together and in the spring of 2015, after dealing with cancer, Kathy decided her time in the mortal world was done and her spirit left to follow her dreams and in December of 2015, at the age of 95, my Mom decided she should join Kathy… I continued on but not with a heavy heart but a heart filled with memories for when I grow to old to dream and the words I know that Kathy would say to me.. 🙂
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
Filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things
We didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you,
And each time you think of me
I know you’ll miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me
I’m right there in your heart.
(Alena Hakala Meadows)
I may have gotten a little long winded here but with today’s world in turmoil, etc. I have been there and done that, have gotten knocked down and still got up and did not quit.. and YOU can do the same, if you have a open mind and follow your heart… You can follow the advice of Steve Jobs and Annie.. 🙂
“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary” (Steve Jobs )
Or, that of Joel Brown and Rachel Platten… “The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible.” ( Joel Brown)… 🙂
Or that of Mary Kay Ash and Freedom Fry… “If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right” (Mary Kay Ash)… 🙂
Well, I had better quit rambling as there are dreams to follow and adventures await while I deal with life’s challenges… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂
You can be a girl or boy on fire and follow your dreams but only if you want t0... 🙂 until we meet again..
May the love that you give
Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
On your journey through life.
