Hello Diary,
While viewing the world today, I saw many had lost their loved ones, for them a time of sorrow… with these trying times it may be difficult to do, but the sorrow should be short lived for even though the mortal body is no longer present, the love and spirit remains, memories imbedded in ones heart beyond the 12th of Never… to be visited whenever one wishes to, the love guiding the heart, providing light in times of darkness… 🙂
One fond memory were Kathy had a thing about cobwebs… when she saw a cobweb on the ceiling, she would point at it and say “take it down”.. I would smile at her and say “don’t look at it”… when I see a cobweb today, I can here her say “take it down”… 🙂
As is the destiny with all creatures, great and small, the time had come for Kathy to leave this mortal world, and Kathy, Bree and I met one final time and had a quiet goodbye…. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” ( Dr. Seuss).. 🙂
Bree.. 🙂

I knew her spirit were still there, and at her final resting place, I had the Chaplain say these words… 🙂 Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamonds glints in the snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain When you awaking in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft star that shines at night Do not stand by my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die (Mary Frye) And after we parted, I played this song, for it was time for me and Bree to say goodbye… 🙂
But the memories, the love, the spirit, shall always remain in ones heart and when times of sorrow should venture into ones life, one may get a message from the heart… 🙂 When tomorrow starts without me And I’m not here to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes Filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn’t cry The way you did today, While thinking of the many things We didn’t get to say. I know how much you love me As much as I love you, And each time you think of me I know you’ll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me Don’t think we’re far apart, For every time you think of me I’m right there in your heart. (Alena Hakala Meadows)And the heart, filled with memories, will indeed go on… 🙂
Bree has since passed on also, joining Kathy and Miss Daisy.. but I am not alone for they are here with me wherever I go and I smile because it happened… 🙂 Will close for now, this ole heathen’s heart needs to go on, adventures await and need to make more memories for the ole heart… but I (and Kathy, Miss Daisy and Bree) shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…. 🙂 Until we meet again…. May the love that you give Always return to you, That family and friends are many And always remain true, May your mind only know peace No suffering or strife, May your heart only know love and happiness On your journey through life. The poem by Mary Frye is absolutely beautiful. My Dad had it used at my mother’s funeral. I agree with you, it is just the body which falls by the wayside, while the spirit travels on to who knows where.

Losing our loved ones is part of our human condition. Yet, it’s a pain that’s hard to bear. I’ve recently lost another dear friend from my convent days. Mary Frye’s sentiments are comforting. But I still cry. Thanks for sharing, Dutch ❤

“…but I am not alone for they are here with me wherever I go, and I smile because it happened…” Your certainty strengthens my belief that when I hear my father’s words in my head, or feel my mother’s presence, their spirits are alive and well and we will never be alone.
