“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” (Michel Angelo) on the path least traveled….

Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂 Me 1 copy

( “I do not do, say or write something to been seen or heard… I  do, say or write something because it needed to be done, said or written…” ,  no nominations please, just sharing thoughts while exploring life  🙂 ).. 🙂

“We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving. And we all have some power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing.”  (Louisa May Alcott )… 🙂

I'll be what I must be, in spite of me
As life won't always give the things I choose
And so I have to make what has to be
Into the things my life and I can use.
All roads don't lead to Rome, as it's been said,
But some to Paris, and a little fun,
So I will change the path where I would dread
To go to where I choose, when I am done.
I'll not be forced into a better scheme
If I can't see the end result my way
If it's not part of what my heart can dream
It never will come to the light of day.
All things can change, if I have any voice
In what they are, and I will make the choice.

Hello Diary,

In the past I have been sharing thoughts about how I help others, today I think I will share thoughts on how I help this ole planet, the third rock from the sun… I always feel that if everyone would give a little, then a few would not have to give a lot…so I look around my part of the universe to see what I can do… 🙂

First, after some careful research I decided to give up driving… with today’s technology and other options available, the need and expense to have a auto was not justified… and most importantly, I would be helping to reduce carbon emissions and the use of fossil fuels… and I need the exercise… 🙂

Now, I do like a book but after careful consideration have opted for the using the Kindle.. I have near 2000 books over the years and with the Kindle I do not have to be concerned about storage and most importantly, no one has to cut down a tree for me to read, and I do love to read… 🙂

For travel I have the lightweight 7” Kindle Paperwhite…
And for here at home I have the 7” Kindle Fire, it is in color and has sound, etc… 🙂

I also have a 10” Kindle Fire as a backup and have all my books, etc. downloaded on the device.. in the past I have mentioned making small note pads.. for some of the paper I will shred… 🙂

And in the fall I will bury the shredded paper in the compost bin, covered by leaves.. 🙂

By next fall, the leaves and paper are gone, consumed by worms, etc… what leaves I do not put in the compost bin, I use as mulch on the footpaths in the yard.. I do not burn leaves so my neighbors will not have to deal with the smoke and I am not putting smoke in the atmosphere… 🙂

Now, I can also help with the environment in other ways… not only do I help, but it helps me keep active at relatively little cost… one simple method is I transcribe data using Zooniverse and dealing with the tides of the UK for climate.. 🙂

Another method is sending weather observations to the National Weather Service (have been doing this for 19 years).. 🙂

I also send observations to MetEd in the UK… 🙂

And, after doing some bird watching in my backyard, I send the observations to Cornell University so they can research how climate change affects birds, etc… 🙂

And, in a effort to stay active while dealing with the virus, weather, etc. there is Spanish school… 🙂

And the “gym” ( I am doing Tai Chi)… 🙂

HORRORS!, I am working too hard, perhaps I need to heed the advice of Baloo, the bear… 🙂

There are smaller things I do that can be done anywhere (watching energy usage, etc) and what I do is not necessarily for everyone, one will need to gaze upon their world to see what they can do…  but the point is there are things I can do here on the path to help deal with the environment, stay active and follow my dreams while dealing with the virus, weather, etc. and not have to make any major changes or expenses.. stopping driving perhaps the biggest… the rest, well I am doing it anyway so it doesn’t take much adjusting… 🙂

That being said, better close for now.. Life is calling and better see what it wants… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

 Until we meet again…
May the love that you give
 Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
 And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
 No suffering or strife,
May your spirit only know love and happiness
 On your journey through life.

    • Thank you for stopping by!!.. “Every morning your have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams, or wake up and chase them.” (Author Unknown).. the choice has been made and the chase is on… 🙂

Hope all is well in your part of the universe and life is all that you wish for it to be!!… 🙂

  1. Michel Angelo’s quote is an interesting one. I’ve always thought that I should have achieved more, been more important, had more money and so on. But these are probably false gods to worship. Better just not to hurt anybody.

    • Thank you for stopping by!!.. believe the idea behind the quote is to keep trying and not give up even though it may be a challenge… “Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them.” (Louisa May Alcott)… 🙂

Hope all is well in your part of the universe and life is all that you wish for it to be!.. 🙂

  2. You inspire me, Larry, with what you’re doing for Mother Earth. I have some books on kindle, and need to go that route more often, or perhaps it’s time to visit the used bookstore. Maybe some day, I won’t need a car. Keep up the great work!

    • Thank you for stopping by and kind words!!.. glad you enjoyed your visit!!.. if one takes in one’s world, there can be small things one can do that even at the time may not seem like much but can make a difference… 🙂

Until we meet again, Happy Valentines Day!…
May flowers always line your path
      and sunshine light your way,
      May songbirds serenade your
      every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
