Hello Diary…

I have had a few folks inquiring as to what all being part of the BOINC Project amounts to… well, it depends on how involved one wishes to be… I will try to keep it brief… 🙂

First one needs to open the BOINC website; https://boinc.berkeley.edu/

boinc login

Then do a bit of research to see if it is what one wants to be involved in, and if so, download project manager…

boinc mamger

Once done one can set computing preferences that will work with one’s personal computer… also, one will notice there are numerous projects that one can choose to participate in… in this instance the project is World Community Grid…

One goes to their website; https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org

grid login

After doing more research, if one decides to participate, one signs on, logs in and become part of a research team (at least the computer anyway).. 🙂 again, one will notice there are numerous projects available to participate in… one choose projects and one sets computer preferences that will work with one’s personal computer… how involved one wishes to get is up to the person… 🙂

One then goes to Project Manager and connects to whatever projects one wishes to participate in..

I have been with World Community grid for over 15 years and at this time these are the projects I am currently active in…

projects

Basically, once set up, I start Project Manager, my computer automatically communicates with research computers, a certain amount of data is downloaded on my computer, my computer researches the data, automatically returns the findings to the research computers, who then sends more data to my computer to be researched and the process will continue as long as my computer is on and I have the manager started… 🙂

If one may be interested, I suggest going to the different websites and take some time researching and reading and then decide on whether one wishes to participate… 🙂

That being said, I had better close for now, life is calling and I had better see what it has instore for me.. But I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

With hope, dreams and memories
In hearts that’s open and free,
Venturing down the road to happiness
It is two for the road, you and me.

    • Thank you for stopping by and glad you enjoyed your visit!!.. “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” (Plato)… 🙂

Hope all is well in your part of the universe and all your tomorrows are filled with love and happiness and life is all that you wish for it to be!!.. 🙂

  1. Dutch, thanks for providing more information about the BOINC Project and the World Community Grid. Kudos for your involvement in aiding scientific research worldwide! While it all appears to be truly legitimate, I must confess that I’m too suspicious of having some unknown entity of evil intent control my computer to take such a leap of faith.
    Have a great weekend!

    • “Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing.” (Helen Keller)… 🙂

    • It’s actually little different than downloading a website and I do have safe guards in place and I expect they take pains with security… I would be more concerned about downloading Facebook… 🙂

Have a good day today, and every day!…
