It is International Woman’s Day every day on the path least traveled…

Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂

Thoughts Of You, My Friend The Lady….

The garden roses are red
The backyard violets are blue,
Brightness, delicacy, and warmth to behold
That starts me to think of you!

Your beauty, inside and out
That brightens the darkest skies,
Can feel the glowing warmth
Of your lovely, soft, eyes!

Your lovely soft hands
Used with passionate gentleness
Delicate nimble fingers
With a touch of tenderness

And there are your thoughts
That I cherish and treasure,
That I value so highly
They are beyond measure!

One who ventures ever forward
Facing life without dread or fear,
Yet not letting go of the precious past
Holding on to all that is dear,

A few thoughts of you, my friend the lady
Coming from the heart
Thoughts that will never end
Even though in life, we may part.

Hello Diary,

Yes, today is International Women’s Day and it should be every day.. They are as intelligent and courageous as any other creature “I am free born and free bred, where I acknowledge no man as my superior, except for his own worth, or as my inferior, except for his own demerit.” (Theodore Roosevelt) and anyone that uses gender to judge another is either jealous or scared… 🙂

I have had many friends over history’s past and one of them was June E.C. Farley Clark (she passed away a few years ago near 90 years young).. She lived in Skendleby, England..

She occasionally wrote for the newspaper and wrote poetry under the name Chris Clark, she was a distant cousin to Elizabeth Barrett Browning.. in this photo she was given an award in poetry (she is sitting in the center)…

June

We never physically met, but thanks to technology we shared thoughts, poetry, etc for nearly 10 years… on this day I thought I would share one of her poems she shared with me…

Borrowing…..

I came, Lord, many-gifted;
I brought my gifts in my arms;
I laid my gifts at the feet of a man,
and knelt, like a beggar, with tears.
The man was silent.
He saw my gifts;
despising the giver
he opened them all,
and laid them by.

First there was beauty,
For I had my share,
and I’d wrapped it with slenderness,
offering it there.
Be-ribboned with laughter,
and tinselled with grace,
it was a fair offering
in any case!

Then there was wit,
Which I’d valued more;
Bright ropes of intelligence
prisoned that store.
Words, sparkling with humour,
Dimpling with charm,
all softened with tenderness,
to work him no harm.

Finally, youth,
Days, months and years;
light-footed with fantasy,
untouched by grey fears.
Song-circled, life-burgeoning,
I gave him all;
Sweet years of green-ness
brought at his call.

The man took them, my gifts;
A little sad.
But he didn’t realise –
I wish he had! –
That I gave them very willingly;
Sorry for my guilt
that the one gift I ought to bring
had long before been spilt!

Well, I better close for now… the sun is up and have dreams to follow and adventures waiting for me.. will enjoy the day because it won’t come again.. but I will return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

And for all you ladies in the universe all I can say is “you go, girl!”.. 🙂

  1. I love the tribute you did for your friend June………..and I had the honor of learning about someone new, someone I never had the honor of knowing but got the chance to have a small glimpse of her life through her poetry. God bless you Dutch………

    • Thank you for visiting!!.. if one truly lives life and follows one dreams, at some time one will no doubt know pain and tears… 🙂

      May the love that you give
      Always return to you,
      That family and friends are many
      And always remain true,
      May your mind only know peace
      No suffering or strife,
      May your spirit only know happiness
      On your journey through life.

      Until we meet again…
      May flowers always line your path
      and sunshine light your way,
      May songbirds serenade your
      every step along the way,
      May a rainbow run beside you
      in a sky that’s always blue,
      And may happiness fill your heart
      each day your whole life through.
      May the sun shine all day long
      Everything go right, nothing go wrong
      May those you love bring love back to you
      And may all the wishes you wish come true
