Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking while being different, being me… 🙂

( “I do not do, say or write something to been seen or heard… I do, say or write something because it needed to be done, said or written…” , no nominations please, just sharing thoughts while exploring life 🙂 )

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night, not even a heat wave will detour the adventure… 🙂

It Is Down The Path Least Traveled I Shall Go..

It is down the path least traveled I shall go
To a rainbow filled horizon I venture,
To seek, to learn, know peace, to enjoy life
A path filled with wonderful adventure.

A place where one is accepted as who they are
A spirit kindled to life, when mortal born,
A being coming from the depths within
And not subject to ridicule and scorn.

A place where I know freedom of thought and being
I am what I am, don’t you see,
Neither this one, neither that one, but all the above
In a mortal world, a free spirit, that’s me.

I do not travel the path alone, you see
There are memories and spirits to behold,
Those that share… the joy and sadness
As I gather more memories, down that least traveled road.

So how long will my journey be, one would ask
Will I see the end of the path…ever?
The answer, I believe, lies on the horizon
Somewhere past… the 12th of Never….

So I shall bring my ramblings to an end
For there is one fact that I do know,
To reach the horizon, the 12th of Never
It’s down the path least traveled I must go!

Hello Diary,

It is a Saturday morning, the beginning of another “hot” day, possible storms tomorrow… thought I would share some thoughts before getting ready to do battle with the heat wave…and speaking of the weather, there were a few that had some inquiries about my weather observations so will share some technology with you (Wait, where is everyone going!.. 🙂 ).. 🙂

In April of the year of 2001, I met a member of the National Weather Service, Billy Ousley, and after a discussion and with a handshake, I agreed to become a volunteer observer for the weather service (C.O.O.P/S.W.O.P) and thus began my journey… the weather service furnished a rain gauge…

The other 14 weather instruments (plus computers, materials, etc) are mine, purchased or made.. one is the hailboard/snowboard…

hailboard

The hailboard is a piece of polyurethane foam covered in cooking foil and the hail will leave a crater in the foil and I can measure, in the winter I use the board to measure snow… another is the evaporation pan (to simulate the evaporation of ground, lakes, etc)…

evap pan

Another is the Evapotranspiration gauge which simulates the evaporation of plants..

I also have an assortment of gauges to measure soil temperature and frost at different depths…

gauges

The data from these gauges must be taken outdoors… the one exception is this remote sensor..

sending unit

Which transmits data to these instruments…

Sooooooooo, since 2001, every morning ( the single exception being severe weather) between 4:00 and 4:30 AM I put my little recorder/player in the pouch with the little flashlight..

recorder player

Hang the pouch around my neck and venture outdoors to read the instruments… when that is accomplished, I return indoors, sit down and temporarily put the data in my little 7 inch tablet..

I will also use my little “boogie boards” (they remind me of a chalk board)…

And then, by typing, by 6:00 AM I will then enter the data on the weather service’s website “WXCODER”

I will then enter the data, by typing, in Publisher…

And by 6:00 AM that will be sent to the Significant Weather website in Lincoln, Illinois… and finally I will send the data to the MET Office weather service in the UK..

And once that is accomplished , I will finish any recording needed, clear the instruments and prepare to repeat the process the next morning.. 🙂

Soooooooooo, by helping the weather services, perhaps it will help them help others… “You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing. After all, what’s a life, anyway? We’re born, we live a little while, we die. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Goodness knows anyone’s life can stand a little of that. (E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web)

And speaking of the weather, I had better close and prepare for the afternoon heat..set some water out for the backyard friends….have the Kindle, cool beverages (adult and otherwise) at the ready for me… maybe write a poem or two…. but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise… 🙂

    • Thank you for stopping by!.. it takes a bit of time for this ole heathen to get data gathered and ready to send to the NWS … 🙂 as for the shirt, I acquired the shirt by donating to United We Dream.. not sure if they have anymore or not..l perhaps you can make an inquiry; info@unitedwedream.org

Have a wonderful day today, and every day, filled with love and happiness!.. 🙂
