Diary of the journey on the path least traveled..just letting the heart do the talking while the fingers do the walking… 🙂
( “I do not do, say or write something to been seen or heard… I do, say or write something because it needed to be done, said or written…” , no nominations please, just sharing thoughts while exploring life 🙂 )
I Believe I’d Like To Be Different Instead…
And why do I wish to be different, you may ask,
The freedom to choose, to explore, to learn a lot,
Dictated to by a prophet chained to a myth…. NOT
Maybe so everyone can shout and point at me,
And say, “Hey, he’s different”, don’t you see.
My mind is clear and open, gathering knowledge every day
My spirit is young, adventuresome and floating free,
Not confined by those social chains, no box, no mold for me
I am what I am, I am me, what I wish to be,
Perhaps that makes me different, don’t you see.
So my heart’s compass is pointed to the horizon
Sails set full, safe harbor fading in the distance, a faint glow to eye it seems
And with a pocket full of memories, on the horizon are my dreams
On down the path least traveled I will venture, seeking whatever destiny waits for me
Why the path least traveled?..well, I’m different, don’t you see.

Hello Diary,
Another Friday morning, bringing the week to an end… it is also a hint as to what is to come for the weekend with the weather… it were a cold, frosty, foggy morning to wake up to…
Also red skies (“red skies in the morning, sailors warning”.. 🙂 ) indicating moisture in the air… now what does cold temperatures and moisture mean… snow.. there is another Arctic winter storm brewing for here this weekend.. 😦 … but that too shall pass… and speaking of the climate, thought I would take some time from the days activities to share some thoughts about how I try to help deal with climate change and the environment…
First, I do not burn leaves… no smoke in the atmosphere, my neighbors are happy campers… 🙂 nor does it go to a landfill… I have a backyard compost bin…
The backyard creatures like it for food, nest material, etc… I will at time bury unwanted vegetables, peelings, etc in the leaves.. I do not use meats or meat byproducts because that can attract unwanted pests and health hazards.. another item I put in the compost bin is paper, cardboard, etc..
It is an excellent way to dispose of papers that one would not wish to be public.. again, no smoke, no landfill… now, there are some papers that are not a risk and with those I make notepads….
I have a cutting board, some glue and I take a Sunday morning with a spot of tea and cut up paper and glue… once the notepad has been used, it then is put in the compost bin… and after a time, the worms and other backyard creatures turn the leaves, paper, etc into compost soil..
And I use the compost soil in my potted plants, vegetable bins (indoors and outdoors)… also, I shop online at numerous places… ( I will go into cost benefits and waste reduction another time)..
By shopping online I will reduce emissions because I will not be driving everywhere trying to locate the product that I am looking for… the various delivery organizations are already out there so they may as well do the errands.. 🙂
Now, what I do is not necessarily for everyone.. 🙂 but I do believe that if in some manner “everyone would give or do a little, a few would not have to give or do a lot”… “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” -Mother Teresa
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ― Barack Obama
Well, I had better close for now… adventures and destiny await me (not to mention the laundry.. 🙂 ).. But I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…
Why do I do what I do one would ask?… to help the children, irregardless of each being different, to realize their dreams, to live their life being who they are and however they wish to and perhaps make this planet a better place for everyone.. for they are the future, they are the world…
love all your ideas – I recycle paper, use used in my printer as well as for notepads. now, if only packages I order in the mail didn’t come with so much excess packaging…

Thank you for stopping in and glad you enjoyed your visit!… I don’t think they take a great deal of care with shipping items, they just find a box the item fits in and fill it with paper or bubble wrap…. 🙂

That mulch is the best thing–I wish I could have a compost bin, but I don’t have a backyard, only a balcony.

Loved Obama’s quote. Your ideas are wonderful and you keep yourself quite busy. I think some sort of recycling should be done by everyone!
