“Life is one’s house, of what one will become, the accumulation of one’s efforts and takes time to build..everyday is a stone for the foundation of that house and part of the whole…don’t lose any sleep over stones that have been put in place, for they are now a memory, instead look forward and concentrate on what the house will finally become“.. Hello Diary,

A quiet, pleasant Thursday morning to behold here on the prairies (the tree line on the horizon is 4 miles away)…

thurs morning

Shaping up to be a rather warm and humid next few days so spent the week taking care of laboring tasks so I will not have to do them in the heat… this coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend here in the USA.. A time set aside to remember the men and women who gave their lives in various conflicts… conflicts generally caused by closed minded, self-centered members of the human race (a good number of whom lack the courage to fight their own battles) and unwilling to compromise and settle differences in a peaceful manner… it is sad that a good number men and women died needlessly, some of who I served with….

Not only the service men and women, but those unfortunate mortals that, through no fault of their own, became victims in those conflicts, especially the children…children who will never know love or give love, who will never realize their dreams, because of mortals inhumane, uncivilized treatment of their fellow mortals…with all the knowledge that has been acquired over the centuries, it seems all the human race has done is update the “club”…

I, for one, not only give thought to the service men and women, but also the others who have sacrificed and paid a great price, especially the children… I have wrote two poems in history’s past, Diary, and I wish to share today…

For the children…

Maybe No More Children Will Die

I set here looking at the news
The powers wanted peace they say,
And while they spoke, bombs were dropped
60 children died that day!

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give PEACE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die

Smiles on their faces, while shaking hands
Arms deals for defense would come into play,
A bomb went off in a crowded market
10 children died that day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give a world without bombs a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die

A war to end all wars, they said
Yet to war they always return,
Death, destruction, suffering and pain
Won’t they every learn?

What’s wrong with this idea?
Let’s give LEARNING a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.

Anger versus anger, hate versus hate
Seeds sown by war at home and away,
Starvation , sickness, a mother in tears
A 100 children died that day.

What’s wrong with this idea?
Why not give LOVE a try,
Let’s give it a go, everyone
Maybe no more children will die.

And for the men and women (USA, British, Australia, Canada and others..)..

In Remembrance……

We were volunteers, one and all
So Noble.. Proud.. and Brave,
Did not know the reasons for war
Just a people from tyranny to save!

Glasses held high, we made an toast
Surely that Victory would rule the day!
While back at home, the voices of unrest
Not a kind word for us did they say.

Some could not vote, children were we
Some could not drink, but still our battle cry,
Even with all that we could not do
For us children, it was to do or die!

Vietnam was a hostile, violent land
The dangers, the horrors of war abound,
Whether the paddies of Vietnam or the fields of home,
Seemed for us, not a friend could be found.

But we proudly gave it our all, lads and lassies
Faced our destiny, with a hint of fear of tomorrow
Some to return to a mother’s joy
Some to return to a mother’s sorrow.

So should you be looking on today, lads and lassies..
One more toast, hold your glasses high,
To PEACE, HOPE and LOVE, may they long endure
CHEERS, LADDIES!!!.. And SEMPER FI

Well, Diary, there are no conflicts here, all accepted as who they are and believe.. and I had better venture on down that path least traveled, there is a universe to explore and rainbows to find… but I shall return again one day, Fate be willin’ and the creeks don’t rise…. 🙂

Won’t they ever learn, one wonders??….
